I wouldn’t say that. There will be some really good teams at the OMHA’s.
But will the Guelph team be heavily scouted? Yes. Will they have anyone drafted? Who knows.
Here is a little info for you regarding OHL draft eligibility... sorry no AA kids are eligible.
https://chl.ca/ohl/priorityselectionprocess/
That actually says they are eligible lol

Player Eligibility
North American players born in 2008 and non-overage players that were not registered with an Ontario based U16 AAA (that would mean AA kids) team from protected OHL territories are eligible for selection in the 15 rounds of the 2024 OHL Priority Selection.
Emphasis on the NOT registered - it is highly unlikely, but they are eligible.
If there is a player out there that is great, they WILL find them
My guess is that some scouts will attend the OMHA's for interest sakes and IF they see someone that catches their eye they might use a useless 10+ round selection on them.

The last year a AA player was taken in the the OHL priority selection draft was 2010, one each in the 10th and 15th rounds. Since then around 4,000 players have been drafted in 13 drafts, of which none played AA in the season prior.

Best of luck

A player below AA was taken in the 15th round last year. he's easy to spot, he's the one that's 5-4 and weighed in at 115 pounds. So ball out at the OMHAs (or have dad buy the GM a car...)

Being pretty loose on the term "Scout". Minor hockey does not have any scouts!! There may be some coaches that may do some homework and actually go watch games, or have a buddy go watch games for them, but they are not scouts.

I know the kid you are making reference to, and even he was not on an AA roster the year he was drafted.

As you can tell from the previous poster who did all the research for us, kids playing AA in their draft year no longer get drafted. Any kid, or parent of a kid, that is playing AA this year that is expecting to get drafted better be ready for some disappointment.
