My kid is currently AA, wants to focus on school. How many practices does A usually have?

Go to A, or select? (Half the games in select, correct?)

I heard a lot of A and some AA players are going to select, true? I know the speed of the game isn't going to be like A, but he just wants to still play some form of competitive hockey.

We are in the east, right now, but with the NYHL, does it really matter for games? (As long as the practices aren't too far).

How do you know what tier the team will be in?

Go check out a tier 1 playoff game in the next few weeks and see what you think.

One of my boys went from AA to select for U17 a few tears ago and the hockey was very good and competitive. He went to be with more of his friends and the amount of games suited him better. He played again for U18 and is now playing intermural at Guelph and no regrets about moving to select, would he have done it before U17, probably not, but it was the right time.

It is a difference (although not much from A to tier 1 select) so if he is deciding between A and select, it should be able how many friends he would have on each team and the amount of games he would like to play. There is also a lot less BS in select than the G, so that should be taken into consideration.

Good luck to him.

Call around and have him skate with a couple of teams, single A and select, and then he can decide.
