Seems a large gap in the division last season, bottom 5 were way off being competitive with the rest of the division.
My kid was offered a spot last season, and again this season on 2 different teams that finished in the bottom 5 last year. He declined mostly because he is really happy with this A team, great group, good team etc.

I lean towards saying stay with A and in a good situation rather than going to one of those weaker teams, but I really try and stay quiet and let him decide.

Question, or what's peoples opinions...worth it to move up to one of the bottom teams? Or stay in a good situation at a lower level? Thinking ahead to next season and where he might want to be or try to be.

This is a hard question, as there is no right answer per se. It depends on a few variables. Mostly:

What is your player's goal for hockey?

What AA options does he have?

If your player's goal is to play higher level then next year is a good year to move up because body contact is being introduced. You likely want to be in AA at that time otherwise as it possibly could create an additional barrier to entry later on.

If your AA option is with the wrong team and/or coach then it is likely better to stay where your player is happy. I would argue that besides the bottom couple, all the other teams are fairly competitive this season (it seems). However, there are a couple coaches to be avoided therefore you should speak to existing parents to get a sense of how things are.

Lastly, if your player is in the bottom half of the potential AA team's lineup then you need to have a discussion with the coach about the ice time philosophy. Riding the pine all year doesn't help any player. Again, speak to some parents to try to get a sense of that as well.

GTHL is suspending players minimum 7 games for using a certain word that rhymes with hussy.. apparently the office said they consider it a derogatory term.. anybody else hear about this?? 2 older player already suspended this year.

I believe it was TW coach who polluted the last MHT with his shenanigans. Try to keep a lid on it coach so the rest of us can poke at you through the season when you start feeling the pinch.

I think those are definitely the top 3 though I am not 100% sure what the order ends up. I think Panthers will likely be 4. It's anyone's guess for 5th, but I think it's not a huge guess what teams are in the running for playoff spots and what teams are not.
