Not sure where ARD dad gets his info.

Per the GTHL website, LF is #1 in power rankings:

https://gthlcanada.com/article/gthl-a-p ... tober-2024

And #1 in regular season rankings. I'm going with the GTHL in terms of accuracy vs. the delusional drivel of my feathered friend, aka ARD dad.

Division at the top is getting super tight with a surprise MI entry to the top tier of teams. They've now beaten LF & NT and sit 8-4-1. Ducks still top of the class. TA another team on the rise despite some bad recent performances. I see them as a top 5-6 for sure.
Sorry ARD dad, Ducks #2 per GTHL standings. LF still cream of the crop and beat ARD 6-4 after being down 4.

Also WH highest scoring game has been against ARD with 3 goals - you're not a #1 team if WH scores on you 3 times. And then there was the beatdown by TA.

ARD doesn't have reliable defense, their fwd's are often lazy on the backcheck and they rely on double shifting their top line to put it in the net. They're tieing 4th with NT in GAA.

You don't need to be a quacktuary to debunk and dismiss the "Ducks top of class" narrative. Remove their top 2 players and they would be in the bottom third.

LF on the other hand doesn't have any stand out players. Instead, every line is contributing fairly consistently and that's how you win games. Remember this a team sport, not tennis.
Right now based on recent results the power rankings are as follows:

1. Ducks
2. Islanders
3. Flames
4. Ted Reeve
5. NT
6. Aeros
7. Don Mills
8. NYK
9. TRB
10. Scarborough
11. Leaside Gold
12. WH
ARD dads , particularly 7 and 87, we know you think they're awesome with the double shifting due to that horrible defence , why haven't you returned Forest Hill AA coaches phone calls??? They need help. Stop wasting that amazing talent!!!

Is ARD alone at the top of the class?... probably not. There are 3-4 teams who are right at the top and any one of them could lose to a mid-tier team on an off night. That makes for exciting hockey.

It's bizarre that TA Dad repeatedly tries dunking on ARD for having sh*tty defence, when ARD's GAA is third best while TA's is third worst in the loupe; it would well below 2.0 if not for a 10-year old call up playing goalie against TA in the 4-1 loss. You can also afford to not have the lowest GAA when you have the highest GFA. "Remove 2 players and they would be in the bottom third"... that's very debatable but you could say the same thing about many successful professional sports teams.

That wasn't "ARD Dad" and he was mistaken... LF is indeed #1 in the power rankings.

League rankings and power rankings are two different things. Power rankings are a reflection of how a team has been playing lately. LF started out on fire but the fact is they're slumping right now. They're 3-3-3 in their last 9 games including tournaments. They're a good team when they want to be but they're in a mid-season slump and the fact is there are teams playing better than them right now.

They played AA and AAA teams in their tournament as well as a top 20 ontario A team. Only 1 loss and the rest ties. Way more competitive than the gthl 2012 A loop so you are comparing apples to pears if you say they are slumping. ARD hasn't played any teams outside the loop if I understand correctly.

Do you think they're playing as well as they were at the start of the season? Markham definitely doesn't think they are. They're a talented team and should probably be the best team in the loop but the fact is they're in a slump at the moment. Let's see if they can avenge their loss to TR this week. Another loss would clearly show they've been dethroned.

I think the “power rankings” are based on this website, updated every Wednesday:

ARD played three teams outside of the loop in pre-season only, winning two games and losing one.

You should be in a league of your own. A separate elite A division parents and kids alike. Get over yourselves. It’s a long season, let your kids play and more importantly develope and see who is the east champion at the end of the whole season once the playoffs are done. That is the true champion of this division. The team that peaks when it counts and has developed along the way. These forums seem to be dominated by ego driven parents. In the meantime I’m signing up for MHT anonymous to rid myself of this garbage!
