2012 GTHL 'A' DIVISION

Post by Tsar_Farmakov »

Opening Week.

Thread started up for good dialogue. Let's keep the nasty stuff out.

Thoughts? Predictions? Questions?

My question is, will there be an East & West this year (like last year) or will all the teams just be lumped into 1?

There will likely be crossover due to lack of teams in West. Speaking of the West the Avalanche completely turned things around, big win on opening night vs West Mall. I heard they beat the Islanders in an exhibition?!?

Islanders continued their undefeated ways taking down NYK on their first game.

Any other insight?

Islanders and Avalanche are both very different teams from last year.

Tsar - how does NT-SIR go 9-2 one day and then 7-0 the other direction the next day?

Single A Kids Hockey is probably the best explanation. Neither team is that good AND that bad. lol.

I'd imagine a much tighter game the next time these 2 teams lock up.

Tsar - interested in your analysis of the division so far? Seems SIR is a much different team this year, but will still be competetive. Probably the case for all the teams. Thinking NT could be tops but that score from last week makes me think twice.

I think the West has gotten much stronger up top w/ Vaughan, Avs and HVS

Well, it's early but I think the standings will at the end of the year will likely be similar to what they were last year.

In no order, SIR, NTH, MI, TRT (in place of east enders who moved up) would be the top 4
LF, NYK, ARD, YM round out the division. No Forest Hill this year.

SIR is for sure a different team. Players departing, players added, new coaching. Like you said, likely the case for most teams. Who will win it is anybodys guess. I know SIR can fill the net. Top scoring team last year and so far this year. I cant see the Top 4 being different then the teams listed above but who knows right? 10 year olds playing A level hockey, Anything can happen on any given night.

I wouldnt read too much into that bizarre home & home between SIR and NTH. Its so early in the season. Both teams had a great night and an off night.

I saw Avenue Road beat Scarborough 2-0, I think the Ducks will be the surprise team this year, I heard they added a few strong kids that played AA and that's a good first result. I see them being top 4.
