I have my son doing stick slam sets. We simulate a power play situation. Our team has gotten a power play and my son is rehearsing getting called off the ice. He slams his stick before getting to the bench. While my wife and I are working on our out loud displeased sayings. “IS THAT DAD PAYING THAT COACH?” WHAT ABOUT MY SON’S DEVELOPMENT?, “HOW CAN THEY PUT ON THAT KID? HE WAS LATE FOR PRACTICE AND SHOULD BE SITTING”

I do not get why everyone keeps coming back to peoples parents being athletes. It is not mutually exclusive. If you look at a guy like Austin Mathew’s, do his parents look elite level athletes, Paul Marner, no they just got their kids trained by people who know what they are doing. The kids who spend the most time practicing end of being outliers. Some of the least athletic kids come from ex NHL players. That is because their kid’s are usually rich little entitled kids with no drive or work ethic. It all comes back to what kid spends a crazy amount of time studying the game on his own and practicing.
