I posted a well reasoned counter argument to the idea that there is only one team in the east. It is complaining, and now you're complaining. The horror at driving 25-30 minutes to hockey practice because you're on NYR. How ever will you cope?Guest wrote: ↑Tue Mar 26, 2024 11:23 amSomeone posted a well-thought out, rational response to the OP (which was really just whining about EE for some reason) and your response is 'stop complaining'. Thats weak, even for this site. No one was complaining.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Mar 26, 2024 9:33 amChesswood/Scotia and Goulding aren't massive drives from the east. So there that opens it up to JRC, Titans, Red Wings, DMF, MM, and NYR as options within a 30 minute drive. Stop complaining.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Mar 26, 2024 9:25 amThere are a lot of good kids in the East who might like to try AAA, but where should they play? Look at a map of the GTHL AAA teams and tell me where should kids from Scarborough and East York go? DMF is the closest team but they can only carry 15/16 players. Markham is a disaster. So many of the best kids stay with their local clubs 'cause driving an hour to practice several times a week simply isn't an option for many families.Guest wrote: ↑Mon Mar 25, 2024 11:51 amSo Mr. EE, your team seems really amazing. But amazing is really just a reference to who their competition is. If you went down to single A you’d win by even more, and if you went up to AAA you’d lose more.Guest wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 9:46 pmEE tested them alrightGuest wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 6:04 pm
Saying TW's goaltending hasnt been 'tested all year' is really a compliment to their team, as you mentioned. Seems like they got tested vs EE but that was an exhibition game so who knows. Will be a fun end to the season for sure.
So good for your team, you have a mix of almost AAA kids and some AA players.
You probably dominate in your men’s league D level also

It's not simply an EE problem, but TR has good kids, WH has good kids, but these clubs are based in the eastern end of Toronto with few or no AAA options. Imagine living in Etobicoke or Vaughan or Mississauga and being asked to drive to the Scarborough or, worse, Pickering in order to play and practice.
It is a problem that there is only one AAA team in the East End and a reminder that team is also entitled to take kids from wherever, so it's not even guaranteed that is 15 spots for kids from East on that team. Location is a factor parents consider. Plain and simple. It's also a problem that isnt going away anytime soon. City demographics change but GTHL isnt gonna strip clubs of AAA status and award it to others. Might make the league more even if they did, but they wont.
So until then, you might see some strong AA players in east. It's all good. West AA division has great players and teams too. Makes the GTHL better to have strong AA teams as well. Excited to see these 4 teams battle it out. Congrats to TW, HV, MT and VR.

Re: 2014 GTHL AA WEST
Emotional during games is an understatement. They have progressed a ton this year and they have structure to their game. Their weak point is skating. As a friend of a parent on that team, the bad parents are leaving, which was realistically only one parent whos kid shouldn't even be playing AA. MB and MT are only teams with non-parent head coach and it shows in their development.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Mar 26, 2024 10:10 am Any thoughts about MT? on one hand they've shown an impressive progress during the season, on the other I heard that they're a having a conflict between coaches and some parents. So probably next season either some kids or coaches will leave. Could it make the team weaker? What was the nature of the conflict? Also noticed that their parents are too emotional during games and teams like that sometimes are not very consistent.
Re: 2014 GTHL AA WEST
They are not. MT coaches are staying and they are great.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Mar 26, 2024 2:55 pm Why is MT replacing the head coach?
They develop kids and try to win at the same time.
Re: 2014 GTHL AA WEST
MT as a team are a bottom 3-4 skating team in the loop They play hard, have some structure and goaltending is above average.
They cant' skate with TW or HV. Very much the same team as the Rangers but the edge goes to MT.
Not sure how many but their are some wild parents on that team.

Re: 2014 GTHL AA WEST
Interesting, why are they still struggling with skating coz I heard that they hired a widely advertised development coach ECh. Maybe it is not rumours that ECh’s quality is lower than his fees.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Mar 26, 2024 3:56 pm MT as a team are a bottom 3-4 skating team in the loop They play hard, have some structure and goaltending is above average.

They went from a bottom 3 team to being in the final four… sounds like he’s doing just fine…Guest wrote: ↑Tue Mar 26, 2024 4:56 pmInteresting, why are they still struggling with skating coz I heard that they hired a widely advertised development coach ECh. Believe this was always the intent. Prior coach got it going but plan was to always hand it over to this person, who has been there the whole timeGuest wrote: ↑Tue Mar 26, 2024 5:55 pmhttps://mississaugaterriers.com/terriers/coaches/
Their website is listing a new head coach for u11
