It’s not as high as some have quoted and it will vary by team. Theres a laundry list of things that are required to actually make it happen. For those who have played omha and try to make the jump for next year all I have to say is good luck with your journey…
What about kids playing AAA for the first year and are from OMHA ? Also, what is the process to play in the GTHL is it was someone quote that school and address both have to be Toronto? I heard once you are in the system you are stuck. Please share advice

Take your kid to a private school
The G will check school status (public schools )
Yes VK budget 11k per player coach receives 40k. Players that need release or want to make the team must join KH where I make a recruiting fee of $1500 per player, plus mandatory development skates at $80hr. Seems pretty cheap
This is pure nonsense. You need to not only have an address but also school. Private school is fine. So in the end is it really worth all this wasting time driving around. Unless you are really sold on thinking your kid is going to the NHL. Parents have no clue how difficult it actually is. Stay in your home centre folks and if your kid is really good scouts will find him. Don’t run around like chickens with their heads cut off. Far too many parents are delusional.

I'll say this about the "stay in your home centre" argument. That's great if you're in the clique. If you're not, it's not a good scene.

The OMHA centres like Oakville can become toxic due to monopoly. Your kid has to work with the coach, doesn’t matter how are they. You can’t go to another team which is a big problem. While in G, you can move to another team if you don’t like the coach. For ex: the U8 coach for Oakville has never even played AAA, leave junior hockey or OHL. So he can’t really skate and so that cohort is basically Not allowed..hence people want to move. It’s not always about the NHL.

Why don’t parents form an alliance to replace the coach?

It really isn’t all that simple to take the bench by storm. Sometimes there is no viable replacement. You never know what political ties the coaches have. Being stuck in your home Center can be a problem. Btw you don’t have to be a great skater or play high level hockey to understand the game and teach it. Some nhl coaches didn’t play high level hockey…

our hockey program has plenty of paid instruction weekly including skills, figure skater, and goalie. Now the coach only has to teach the game. Generally a paid coach does this all. In some ways this is better bc we have high end instructors who specialize in their craft.

Guest wrote: Tue Jan 02, 2024 8:30 pm What are people thoughts on VK?
Todays skate had a lots of top kids.
That’s a very easy Answer

If the OWNER OF VK is calling people to come to the team that means team has no one and CJ lied about what players he had.

They are in trouble big time.
Time to look for another coach to stop the bleeding.

Isn’t VK and pro hockey connected? Why not get pro hockey 2015 elite coach.
Because nobody will willingly play for No names
No names are good , you’re just jealous they won’t take your kid on the team.

If you can’t beat him, you join him. Enjoy spring I know where I’m playing.
Hi Justin, good ads lol

I am speaking from experience. I have an older kid playing in the G and I am from OMHA territory. If you register for the first time, do it with a GTA address ( boundaries considered within Toronto area for the league), have a valid driver licence rental agreement ( can get it from your cousin) for both parents. They won’t ask for school if you are doing it first time. However, if you registered in a OMHa boundary and you are looking to transfer then you need the school letter within the zone or private. Your school has to be within residential boundaries or they’ll ask for a letter from the school board to confirm kid is attending out of boundary school.

Now there are some jealous parents and coaches and Gm’s who will report you to the OHF if you are lieing about school address or changed the kids schools back. There are so many of these cases.

So basically it comes down to school ( unless it’s a private one)

Similar experience to the above.
