Someone lied that a willing person may buy a aaa age group for something betwee 50-75kk per season. That buyer will most likely want not only compensation but also to earn a little on top. That means that ice, coach fees, some other costs will be inflated. It’s easy to do in bottom teams that attract ambitious but new in hockey parents that don’t know real prices.
Also someone lied that a coach from, let’s say WW(aaa in gthl) doesn’t like when parent ask about his own fees, he gives parents final number what needs to be paid.

What is the messaging behind this post. Also why would a person buy a team for a season.

Biggest question is why would Markham have two teams when they lack interest.

Simple maths. You buy a team for 75k, then bring in a bored pensioner or a young hockey drop out, who couldn’t make it to pros and decided to try himself as a coach. That will be free or next to it. Then you find 17 kids that won’t be too difficult either. And charge them modest 12-15k each. 204-75=129, spend half of 129 on ice, add compulsory fund raisers and you end up with 65-70k.

This is just one side of the story. Haven't you noticed heavy Russian kids presence in certain aaa teams? These (in many cases) are not Canadian Russians. Kids played hockey in their country, then something went wrong ie stupid coach stopped seeing Ovechkin in a young lad or a parent decided that in Canada grass is greener or ice is colder and decided to send his child to GTHL. There's a whole network of assistants of different caliber who offer to arrange it for pay, find a billet family and take care of the child in Toronto etc. Once the kid leaves the airplane, his parents are hooked and start eternal payment marathon as costs are growing by the day. If you run that kind of business, you'd ideally have a team where you can allocate these newly arrived kids, so they don't go to Russia straight away. In Russia a minor hockey team very often is more or less like a pro team in Canada with own ice pads, gym, all sorts of equipment and specialized coaches. I've seen a promotion video for Russians where a random Community centre was filmed saying it was owned by the team where the kid will go.
