2018 Prodigy?
2018 Prodigy?

Is this normal? Any other kids this age this good? Will kids this advanced this young fizzle out? Anyone else have any kids at 5 lifting weights? Not sure what to make of this.

It means nothing. Very few continue to progress as they get older. These days you will find a lot of kids on Instagram like this. It won’t really matter until they are much older and once checking starts and other kids will also catch up. It’s just some of these kids started to skate earlier
Re: 2018 Prodigy?
This kid looks amazing no doubt but something about the framerate/jittering makes it feel to me like the videos are slightly sped up?

I think its cool if your kid is into it - clearly the kid is on the ice all the time. Only the parent and others close to them will know if the kid is being "forced" beyond the normal amount everyone forces their 5yo kid to play hockey sometimes.Guest wrote: ↑Wed Feb 14, 2024 11:05 am https://www.instagram.com/bwhockey18/

However, what I REALLY don't like, is the instagram stuff. I post things my kid is doing, but I keep it pretty low key, a picture here, a video there. etc. But its guys like this that are simply TOO much in my opinion. But, I generally dislike all things social media, so I am probably biased. Its just about being as self-centered as possible and I think its seriously damaging to kids. You are just opening up your kid to a bunch of internet trolls. Setting expectations that can never be met. Quite frankly, the kid is going to have such a skewed view on the world, and an overall focus on the wrong things. Individual skill instead of teamwork / leadership / and hard work.
I know this is a Minor Hockey Talks, and its literally the worst place in the world. But, let me rant for just a quick second here.
SOCIAL MEDIA is killing our kids. You shouldn't have a "fan account" of your son/daughter where its their name and you post in the first person for them. Its weird.
We all love our kids, and we want to show we are proud of them, but there is a fine balance of healthy and complete poison. In my opinion, this guy is poison.

This is obviously his dad that typed that comment and the video is clearly sped up. Nobody believes it. That’s why you won’t put your kid in winter or summer hockey even though there are elite leagues at his age. Your videos are edited and the truth is your kid just isn’t that good at hockey. Dismissed.

More like hugely sped up. This is a joke.Guest wrote: ↑Wed Feb 14, 2024 11:49 am This kid looks amazing no doubt but something about the framerate/jittering makes it feel to me like the videos are slightly sped up?
Re: 2018 Prodigy?
No kid at 5 wants to play hockey all the time. They would rather play with toys and watch cartoons. All this is a bit too much for a 5 year old in my opinion. The Instagram stuff for a 5 year old is silly.
Re: 2018 Prodigy?
The video is sped up! Daddy thinks the scouts are watching. Useful tip, speeding up videos of 5 year olds is honestly a joke.Guest wrote: ↑Wed Feb 14, 2024 11:05 am https://www.instagram.com/bwhockey18/

Literally no kid maintains this pace. Not even prodigies.
