Top kids always skip it. Why possibly hurt your stock. Last year almost all from the top three rounds skipped it.
Don't know about this year, but not the case last year. If you are worried a couple of drills and 2 shinny games are going to "hurt your stock", you probably don't belong there anyway.
I’d say if it’s only a couple of drills and two shinny games it not going to do anything to help my stock either.

Sure it will. They are looking to see who can blend in with other players, whos a good kid in the locker room, whos gonna fit into a new team with a bunch of unfamiliar faces. Is the kid coachable. Does he have a personality. Is he an ahole or an egomaniac. Whats he like on the bench. The egos of some of these kids (by way of their parents) is hilarious. If these kids want go anywhere theyll need to attend combines and showcases just like this. Amazing experience to participate even if draft position doesnt change as a result.

I definitely know that it can impact someone’s draft position. But the scouts have player groupings, like their top 3 left D, and it will change the order of those for some scouts. But if you are so afraid that a few drills and a couple of games will”hurt your stock”, you probably don’t have the competitive spirit needed for the next level.

You’ll see a bunch of Petes players move up. Their run was impressive and a full team effort. Will probably see some Oshawa kids get a bump up. Marlies, North York and Vaughan already had a ton of kids on the radar so no real changes there other than PM on Marlies impressed a lot of people and should be a solid first round pick now.
PP players will get a boost, lots of them ! 4 F at least and 3 -4 d ! Barrie already is up high with so many ! OG had two / three top F that will definitely pop up the list. But the D on OG I’d say 3/6 will pop up for sure , maybe two second rounders . One made so many mistakes I bet he drops but will get drafted .
OG weak line also really shined , line 7s line and a couple on line two. They were honestly carried by a handful so I don’t think many unnoticed will pop up , unlike PP who had two solid full lines and not a horrible third .

Who made so many mistakes?

Which 3 d?

False. You obviously have no idea what you are talking about and clearly were not there last year.
Quick check showed me 6 out of 22 first round picks last year attended the combine.

Guest wrote: Wed Mar 20, 2024 8:43 am Who is on the wait list? What does that mean?
Meaning not all those invited to participate actually do and so they go to the waitlist to make sure they have 16 goalies (2 per team).
Why decline? Unless you are worried that attending will affect your draft negatively.
It happens. Look at last years combine and compare to first round or two. A quick comparison shows 5/22 first rounders were in the combine. Digging deeper though, 12 of the top 32 picks took part. Would be interesting to know why the others didn’t
A number of them don't want folks to know that the 5'9 170 theyve been telling folks is actually 5'6 150 prior to draft day. Or they want to go college route. Or they don't want to play best on best and show the league may have caught up to them since the year started. Or they can't get there. Many reasons.
See previous post… 12/32 took part in 2023 combine. A few were sick, some chose not to expose themselves (size, speed, politics) and some had fearful agents who convinced them that “top guys” don’t need to take part. Wait till the next level… combines and training camps are a required part of the experience.

Pretty sure EB #61 OR just solidified 1st overall pick - based on his performance this season and at the OHL Cup.

Agreed. Didnt deserve OHL Cup MVP (fantastic player but not tournament MVP) but its all part of the OHL push as he becomes #1 overall pick. no names won games by himself in this tournament and has a much weaker team around him.
