A significant portion of the BE 2009's jumped ship at the end of last season. I think by the time the dust settled there was something like 5 skaters and one goalie left. They all scattered to different organizations. NN Stars, Halton Hurricanes & Huskies mostly. I can only speak for our decision to leave. Although our son had no issues with the head coach, it seemed there was some that did have issues with some of the staff. Originally we had no intention in leaving and never thought about trying out for another team. However after they began leaving in droves, my kid was hesitant to stay when all his friends and the basically the top players on the team were leaving. We saw that it was unlikely that BE was going to be able to dress a serious competitive AAA team since all the top players in the SCTA were moving to one of the top 3...NN, OR, HH...or heading to the GTHL. This meant that the development/training could be limited to the overall skill level of the team, as the remaining players available might be imports that lost their spot, or AA callups. So when approached by one of the top 3 teams we took the opportunity and have never looked back.

My son thoroughly enjoying his time with his new team, he has found his place and fits in perfectly as an integral part of the team. He has grown in his skills and as a person more in this 2/3's of a season than he has at any point in the BE organization. He has seen opportunities and played in some of the highest level competitions (Tournaments etc.) available for this age group. Events that BE would never even consider entering because they would stand a chance. Although these tournaments may not have always gone in our favor the experience gained and knowledge earned have been irreplaceable.

As heartbreaking as it was to leave, and believe me it was hard to make that final call, we stand by our decision to leave and my son is happier for it.
NN, HH, OR, yes. But no one went to the G from that team! Right?!?
No. But he didn’t say anybody did.
Dad, are you losing your mind? “were moving to one of the top 3...NN, OR, HH...or heading to the GTHL.” or just dumb?
Seriously...? When answering the question as to why we left, I tried to be very careful about being as sensitive as possible and give the truth as to why we left? This is what you took away from this? Are you that interested in tearing down someone for no other reason than to just do it? Or are you that OFFENDED that a Burlington Kid might have went to the GTHL that you ended up misreading everything I said?

Read carefully what I wrote about the BE players

"They all scattered to different organizations. NN Stars, Halton Hurricanes & Huskies mostly."

Now read the part about open borders and the SCTA in general...

"it was unlikely that BE was going to be able to dress a serious competitive AAA team since all the top players in the SCTA were moving to one of the top 3...NN, OR, HH...or heading to the GTHL."

So before you go anonymously slamming someone else's intelligence, read twice, think about what you want to say, erase that...read again, and then formulate an intelligent response. Otherwise you look like the idiot.

Not that anyone cares about the U18 AA Blue team next year  , but RF as coach? He's already promising his 07's that they have a spot next year. They hardly compete in the AA as it is, and next year it's going to be tougher playing against kids a year older in the AA group. Did no one else apply? Let me get this straight, now the 06s have to compete for their spot after playing a year in the U18 loop? Are they AA Blue with hopes that will eventually be dropped to A? Someone please explain.

Honestly most of you are idiots. I will make this my first and only post and I will never look at this site ever again.

Facts are that our top players who all benefitted from being double shifted and special teams at the expense of our weaker players for the most part said that they were coming back and flat out lied and left. The Burlington 2009 age group isn’t that strong, we were a mid pack team trying to get better with some additional imports for this season. Our top players panicked when our Halton import (who we helped rediscover his game….dads words) went back on his word that he was staying. So losing 15 goals and that is going to cause you to go to NN. Continue to enjoy the drive, you taught your kid how to go against his word, abandon his friends/hometown and run away from a fight all for the glory of playing on Sunday in tournaments.

My non parent co coach who I have known for 15 year and would bleed for, coaches with a passion, care and respect for each of his players. He also makes them accountable much like he does his own son. He took some heat last year from a parent during the OFHs for calling out a player but it was nothing me or the Eagles had issues with. But you “snow plow” parents can’t have little Johnny figure it out for himself….no let’s make life easier for him and not let him deal with any adversity in his life.

This year has been a struggle for sure….anytime you have to replace 60 goals it’s going to be tough but we continue to fight. We have had some highs and some lows but every time we get knocked down we get up….and for that I am proud of these guys this year. We will continue to work hard in practice, and with video and summer skates and maybe in a couple of years with the help maybe of more imports be a OHL cup contender, that’s the goal.

So whenever my hockey friends, scouts, agents asks me about little Johnny I will be honest and tell them what I think about the parents and kids character for using “development” as an excuse to leave Burlington, your cowards. You had a great opportunity to maybe be a top team if you had a little faith and trust in the Eagles/coaches and you were willing to put in the work but you took the easy road to an already winning program. Let’s see how this movie ends in 2 years….I wouldn’t bet against us.

This just in, OHL scouts are going to start talking to losing teams about their players and former players and avoid all the winning teams. It turns out they have lot of time and only want to see how movies play out.

Let's plug in the exec/friends of exec translator app for parents going through BE experience for the first time:
The organization has made many great strides since CL has been involved and will continue to improve--- added a lot of pressure to win so now there are extra summer camps to pay for to secure spots on top letter teams.
BE Exec is in no way looking to hinder their teams and want to win--- BE Exec have done a better job of hiding how they are helping their select friends.
DA is making changes to the program that will only enhance it--- BE put parents through hell to see what they would pay for, and since they keep showing up the cost will keep going up, with no real value added (or better program means better jerseys)
Stop thinking like it’s still the old guard--- We don't have the control over parents that we use to and need to use fear to get control back.
