How's everyone feeling about the coaching announcements made yesterday? I'll say I'm not impressed at all.

so here is my expience, my kid played in Ajax and ended on a mixed Ajax Pickering team. I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt its night and day.
I had no idea what the other side was like. The pickering parents told me it was always like this, the PHA was very well run so they dont see much of a difference. We have development which is awsome, ajax never did that, our emails are getting answered ajax never did that and for the first time no one is crying about about coaches. Ajax was dead anyway. The had 11 rep teams and had they no done this everyone was coming to Pickering. There were some bad ajax coaches they allowed to coach but i guess that was part of the deal. Hopefully they can fix the AAA mess, their teams are not very good.

Ajax Knights never claimed to be a AAA centre. The vision they had was to be the best minor hockey association in Canada with key metrics around community involvement, hockey development/enrolment and championships. No they didn't answer calls around AAA as this did not align to vision.

The first year coaches were told they had to take equal amounts of players from each side which hurt some teams out of the gate. Some took additional players because of the request to equalize sides. It showed that coaches had no backbone and the organization didn't care to put the best team on the ice. Allowing teams to roster 19 players at AA down is a f ing joke and shows how money hungry the organization or coaching is starting to become.

I am not sure how you thinking taking the 19 players makes the org money hungry? Those players would be in the org anyway. Also if you look at the rosters many teams have 15 ajax or pickering players on it. I think your a bit out of touch. god gave you one mouth and the ability to control what comes out of it. I suggest you take his advice.

Pickering was certainly far better run than ajax ever was. Its pretty evident to anyone from Ajax. All the lies they told about Pickering for years were never true and now we see for ourselves. Everyone seems way happier. However my other son that plays AAA, its still a complete mess. Hoepfully they can fix that too. Lets see what happens, but for the first time someone is making good decisions with AAA coaches for the most part and has no bones bout tossing the bad ones even if its mid season.

Look at the 09 team and the trash behind the bench and it hasn’t changed enough. Raiders have never been shy about booting someone who wasn’t an insider from the perch. They did it to the 09’s years ago in Minor Atom. What they have a problem doing is recognizing when an insider is toxic and cancerous and riding them of that problem. Most of the AAA teams in this organization are made up of kids who don’t reside in Ajax or Pickering yet they will hold back kids who want to go elsewhere. There are up to a dozen kids in the 09 age group playing aaa elsewhere that WANTED to play for the raiders. Now that “super” team is imploding like all the others.

I was on the board of Ajax. We never wanted the hysteria that went with AAA hockey. Best to keep that focus to a broader community that included Pickering. We always wanted to be the best minor hockey association for rep at the AA/A as well as build a feeder system that continued to build participation across the grass roots of the Ajax community. Always a balance but we did a great job. Covid hurt us and it seemed financially the only way out was merger. I am still hoping championship hockey will come back to Ajax, many of us miss it.

Pickering hockey is a joke and has been for a long time. Now that Ajax and Pickering has come together it has not changed much at all. Way to many parent coahes still. The AAA in most ages are not doing well. Same goes for AA and A. They need to stay together for numbers tho. My kid is at the age he can leave and go elsewhere and thank God. See ya AP

AAA Raiders has always been a disaster, its going to take moving a mountain to fix it. I have no doubt the pickering crew will be able to do this. Only 2 Raider board members left, they only place you ever see them is at the U18 AAA games. I am not sure the ajax and pickering even wanted them.
