The reason there’s a whole thread dedicated to APMHA is the same reason why the longest thread on the Teams section is an AP team. Top to bottom a horrible organization filled with cliques and parent coaches. They hold kids hostage from the G and ruin them with bad development and a toxic culture. It’s a shame because there are some really good young players there.
The thread is to warn associations be careful of mergers as the grass is not greener on the other side. Two years ago we had AMHA (Knights) in Ajax. Despite a progressive board, rooted team in the community and championship calibre rep teams, the COVID impact did have an impact on house league registration. The solution seemed to be a merger .. the new world is proving APR has a long way to go.
You are such a complete lunkhead.

There was nothing progressive about the Board - it is the number 1 reason the organization died. Just a bunch of stubborn, unapproachable, vindictive egomaniacal curmudgeons. The organization had no roots in the community - that's why you couldn't even put together 4 team houselagues for a 2 birth year group (and this was starting happening before COVID) and had sporadic and almost entirely uncompetitive rep teams. The one time you could have a competitive rep team was Midget; the age group where most kids quit to focus on school, and even then you couldn't win anything there in the final years without sandbagging at the A level. Literally nothing has changed in the community without except 5 or 10 "volunteers" lost their little kingdom which could only eventually fail under their so-called leadership.

You need to just go away - your time has passed. You failed.

Two things can be true at the same time. AMHA was brutal. APMHA is equally brutal.

I'm still wondering a year later .. Ajax Knights or Ajax Pickering Raiders? What was the better way forward for Ajax based minor hockey families?

Honestly, I think we have a disgruntled Board member from the old organization that did not make it on the APR Board.

I think APR would do well to start paid coaches at the u10 level instead of waiting for u12. The parent coaches at u10 and u11 this year give out way too many spots.

The AMHA faltered simply because the had idiots at the top like the 'karen' CR and the ego maniac' JP making decisions. Simple as that. They refused to listen to the community and constantly served their needs first! Hope they enjoyed their free pizza every board meeting. Losers....

I disagree. If you start too young, you miss the opportunity to develop APR kids. Paid coaches typically roster from outside of the organization and then it slowly stops being about community hockey. Take a look at the older teams and you’ll see what I’m talking about. None of the kids are even from Ajax or Pickering. And a lot of the APR kids showed potential at a young age but were overlooked for something bright and shiny on the other side. But the outside kids will never fully commit to a team and community they don’t live in, so you will have inconsistency and an ever-changing roster. That’s not a recipe for success. There’s a much bigger picture here that I think a lot of the younger parents are missing. I have 3 kids in the system and I see a huge difference in how parents view the team makeup from my youngest’s team to my oldest.
