Board rules

These rules are disclosed to clarify the various responsibilities of all community members here on Minor Hockey Talks - Hockey Forum. They shall be adhered to by everyone to ensure that our board runs smoothly and provides a fun and productive experience for all of our community members and visitors.

  1. Posting Rules

    1. These rules shall be adhered to by everyone posting on Minor Hockey Talks to ensure that our board runs smoothly and provides a fun and productive experience for all of our community members and visitors. Please also read our "Terms of Use" section for more detailed information, you are bound by all these rules, terms and conditions when using this site. The following rules are useful to help you make a successful post without the post being removed or censored from the board.

      1. Try to write using opinion and examples. Instead of writing “TM Coach is an idiot for pulling his goalie” you could note “The goalie was pulled with a minute left in the game while shorthanded. The other team simply iced the puck and scored. Clearly, this was the wrong decision.”
      2. Avoid attacking a specific person or business. An attack is personal and has no foundation in opinion.
      3. Avoid repetition. If a previous post already made a point and there is no additional insight in your post it may be removed or censored.
      4. Avoid quoting other comments that may be removed as your comment will likely be removed or censored.
      5. Consider that nothing incites a reader more than negative comments about a specific child. If you have opinions you may have to pause and take a little time to write it correctly. Instead of saying “#14 on defence was horrible last night” you could say “The defence didn’t have their best game last night. Several players blew right by them on the outside”. This latter statement is not specific, it is not an attack, and it is opinion based with an example.
      6. Most of the time a point can be made without using names or initials and can be avoided if written properly (See 1 above). Minor hockey league parents, players, coaches and other officials should be referred to by initials with the above points considered. In some cases first or last names are acceptable. This may include but is not limited to circumstances where the information is readily available on other internet-based sites, celebrities, NHL hockey players, NHL coaches, published lists, etc.

The administrators and moderators review posts for the greater good of users and guests of minorhockeytalks.com taking into consideration the above as a guideline.
