Reality is no-one really cares.
CRA could have some interest, but in the world of non-profits and the issues CRA deals with these teams are meaningless.

So if Aliu had got a GTHL team, would he have still complained? Sounds like he didn’t get what he wanted so he’s complaining about the process that he was involved in.

All I can say is as long as your kid and you are sporting a nice AAA jacket and turning heads when you walk down the street that’s all that matters boys

There has been a culture shift in society, with the most talked about topics being entitlement and woke. I can't imagine what it would be like to deal with a parent who files a formal complaint, alleging "abuse" because a player missed a couple of shifts. I can't imagine what they would say to their kid in car and the attitude the kid brings to the rink.

https://www.thestar.com/sports/hockey/2 ... stice.html
Oakman said the GTHL has submitted 85 cases to the independent third party this season, though the overall number involving the league is likely much higher since complaints can also be submitted directly to the third party.... “They’re getting complaints where a kid missed two shifts and that’s being filed with the independent third party as abuse,” Oakman said.

The core values and spirit of minor hasn't changed. It's the core values and expectations of the people that have changed and turned minor hockey into what another thread on MHT refers to as a "cesspool". What was once an environment of team, trust and enjoyable sport for everyone has turned into one of selfishness, deception and cut-throat because of growing group of parents trying to get ahead in the fantasy arms race of getting their kid into the NHL.

The orgs haven't ruined minor hockey...the mob has.
If its two shifts every period, every game, for an entire season - it's abusive.
^^^and here they are...the millennial hockey parent!
Well, when you roll off the barstool and stop telling people how you could have been a player, maybe you'll realize its kids sport and everyone who pays to play, deserves to play. No amount of A's changes that.
You sir are wrong. You put your kid in a level they don’t belong and that’s on you. Too many dads put their kids in a level they don’t belong and wonder why they don’t get ice time. The goal of the gsme is to win not be fair
No the goal is developing kids. Full stop. Developing their confidence and their abilities. You pick em you coach them. It's a fallacy that kids' sport is about winning. If that's the goal we're setting up 99.9 percent to fail. So it has to be about more than winning.
Finally someone who gets it!!

This has been an open secret for years. The GTHL has been a racket for years and the administration turns a blind eye but has also been on the take other ways. Instead of promoting the sport the GTHL is all about the money in EVERY situation. Case in point ... a player on my son's team was suspended for interacting with a parent of another team after a loss recently. Yes our player swore at the parent and was suspended for it ... these are 14 year old boys though we are talking about and the parent on the other team engaged first. Anyhow, a parent on our team stepped between our player and their parent simply to diffuse the situation ... the parent on our team (I witnessed it) simply said to the parent on the other team to go in the other direction ... she did not raise her voice or make any gestures. The refs didn't see it as they were on the ice still getting ready to come off. One of the refs though reports it to the league and a $1,000 fine is issued against both teams. No appeal process is allowed whatsoever. A nice $2,000 in the pockets of the League.

It's the same process with any other "allowable" appeal. Varying levels in price, they almost never overturn anything and pocket your money. That's why as a manager I couldn't access the appeals process on indefinite suspensions. Because it doesn't exist but for optics. 60-250 right into the pockets of the GTHL brass. Although for the right donation, I bet a process exists. Yet coaches can get away with abusing kids and come back the next year to a fat paycheck. The sooner the GTHL is dissolved, the better.
