Love all these armchair parents. There are a lot of kids that just want to play hockey, not all of them are great and not all teams are great.
We'd all love to be on a top team, but that's not always possible. If the coach is a solid guy and will try to put the best team together and your kid has an opportunity to play, just do what's best for him. Don't listen to all the crackpots on here.
You are too kind. Ask anyone about which team in the 2008 A loop has been consistently the worst and HC will be on the top of the list.
If your kid is going to Hillcrest this year, maybe your kid shouldn't be playing A hockey
Don't flatter yourself...GTHL non-contact single A is not actually single A, it's the equivalent to AE and MD.
Maybe HC is.
Have you seen the top 6 teams in the west play? With MI in the East, it's another level of hockey. The rest of the west and east is a lower level.
Safe to assume that they would look similar to Markham Waxers BB and Barrie BB, both non-contact and ranked in top 10 on MHR.
Single A teams in the O play contact…which would be one level up from their non-contact BB/AE/MD teams.
Not sure where the logic here is.
GTHL "A", is "A" hockey, period.
The point is that HC has always been a very bad team in the 2008 loop and next year will be no different.
If you are thinking of joining, just know that it will be in the bottom 3.

If “A” is ‘A”, then why have non-contact tourneys?
It’s easy to exit the zone or make a play or simply skate with the puck when the opposing player is relegated to essentially poke-checking. Your kids team wouldn’t look the same if they were to play a traditional game versus a top 25 single A team from the O.
You chirped a group of people, saying that their kids don’t belong in single A (like your kid does)… so I decided to give you a dose of reality, and remind you that your kid isn’t even playing single A hockey. You may call it single A, but outside the G you don’t compete against single A teams. Your kid competes in a division below single A.

Regarding GTHL, "A" teams. HC is not at the same level as almost all GTHL teams. Better?

Lucky for you, teams like HC exist, otherwise your kids team would be one of the worst in the entire city. There are 32 GTHL teams (almost 500 kids) in your kids cohort that play a much higher level of hockey.

You dedicate a thread to bash an entire org and all the kids who might play there... then get all emotional when somebody points out that you are nothing more than midget calling another midget short. Hahaha

Actually, you brought up completely irrelevant information.
The post about HC A being a horrible team was only in the context of GTHL hockey.

I was comparing apples to apples.
Yup...just reminding you where your kid fits in the grand scheme of things, which is one level below the National standard of single A hockey. And case in point, your little apple is on the same branch as every kid who has ever played and will ever play for HC.
And just remember, you're a midget calling another midget short.

If you are using the branch analogy, HC is at the end of the branch, hanging on by one finger, while most other teams are close to the tree, with a strong connection.
I appreciated you continuously going off topic, and if I struck a nerve, I apologize.
