This is matched ONLY by the number of whack job, helicopter, naive and blind parents.

You're welcome

There are 4 types of coaches.

1)ex player, has no education or skills. Must do hockey to make a decent income. Really good on ice skills, but lazy, shows up late/ unprepared not a great communicator.
2)dad coach. There for the develop of his son and inner circle.
They try hard to compensate for their bias,
3)ex minor hockey league player. Loves the game and follows his passion. Puts in big effort, but is not entirely knowledgeable and his on ice skills are marginally better than the kids
4) the unicorn-ex player, hockey is his passion, intelligent and treats the kids great. Puts in effort, has incredible on ice skills and correcting skills. Goes the extra mile to help kids get better.

Those are your options. Unicorns usually move up the leagues or quit all together to get away from idiot parents.

Parent, x-player, paid, volunteer...no coach is perfect.

Parents who focus on the flaws in their kids coach end up poisoning their kids perception of the coach, through their incessant complaining. In the end, they become the root cause of their negative experience. These parents are unknowingly teaching their kids to blame and fostering a "victim" mindset in their kids.

Parents who help their kid navigate the downsides of the situation are teaching them how to cope with adversity. And though the kid may not realize it, his positive attitude will lead to problem solving and positive life experiences down the road.

Yes problem, idiot, naive and dumb parents are a HUGE problem, but they are equally matched by crap coaching. Coaches do not want accountability, or subject to any oversight. In fact coaches want to be backed by associations that close borders, essentially forcing parents who want to have their kid play hockey, into one option. This allows the poisonous atmosphere, brutal coaching, and poor treatment of players and parents to continue.

BOTH groups are equally to blame for the sh!t minor hockey we find ourselves in.

You describe most hockey moms who can't even skate, never played, don't understand or watch the game. They need to drop their kid off and STFU

There is the parent coach who hinders his own kids development by being totally unfavourable to him so that crazy mothers keep their mouths shut. Doesn't work, so what's the point, may as well just favour ya own kid! Catch 22

Typical meat head response to take no accountability .
