Full ice is fairer for the 5/6/7/8 year olds who have hit that development stride where they can skate
It’s not fair I guess for a 6 year old to light it up half ice and get bored then doesn’t know what to do in full ice scenarios
Kids develop late or start late
Another way, wont be worth it for a kid on the margins to chase the puck and play 3rd line at 6 years old who would do way better in cross ice or half ice

I agree, very much based on the kid.
My 2015 played in the KSL which suited him better, my 2016 is in OMHA because he’s not there yet, he might never be. He would have been destroyed at the KSL and that’s why we opted to leave him in an environment that is best suited for his skill set and skating ability.

Half ice/full ice should be based on a case by case. What suits one kid won’t suit another. If the kid is at advanced level of skating at 7 and eventually planning to play Aa/AAA then full ice is perfect. Some kids may just want to play house league or A and for those kids having half ice is beneficial. They will be overwhelmed trying to skate down full ice. Both options should remain.

YK - will continue to dominate because of a very good system, passing and team play. KV knows exactly what he’s doing.

Saints - inconsistent team. All over the place.

Stars West - a lot of improvement needed.

Cobras - played well in championship tournament, only team not named YK to give YK a challenge. Interesting to see if they can continue to improve.

Ducks - heard NYHL kids playing on this team but just couldn’t get over the hump.

Aces Red - not sure what’s going on here, they can’t seem to win. Either coaching or player change.

Raiders - bottom of the top 4, are a team that may not make big changes but definitely may replace some kids to compete with YK.
There are new teams coming up as well ( Raiders T1, Raiders 2, Stars White). Any idea how they will do?

Stars white is which age group? Tier 1? So Raiders have a tier 2 team for which age?

The only downside is that the Cobras is run by a poor organization. GHD, couldn't organize themselves out of a wet paper bag!

Any leads on how the Northern Saints are looking this year? Will they be any good or losing their best players?
