Mississauga Hockey League thread?

Post by Guest »

Hi everyone ... I am considering moving my son out of the GTHL to the MHL A division next season ... I don't see a thread for the league here...

I know of a few players in the league and it's fairly competitive and I see that in recent tournaments MHA teams were competitive vs. GTHL A teams.

thoughts? Any parents in MHA that care to give their thoughts?

thanks

MHL A is non contact. Level of hockey is ok. Some strong teams, some weaker ones depending on the age group. Less travel for sure in the MHL vs GTHL.

It varies by age group. You can see some of the younger age groups no longer have an "A" division as there were not enough teams, and are now part of the GTHL. Similarly, there are GTHL teams in the west moving to the MHL (not just A) as the costs are lower. However, there can be wide variations in talent in some of those A age groups. (Of course, the same can be said for some A, AA and AAA age groups in the G.) If competitiveness is not a concern, you will be paying and driving less. I would have been happy with my kid staying in the MHL, but he made the jump to AA.

Not sure about the G but in OMHA there is hitting in A. You have to drop to BB for non contact

The MHL is a League that should be absolutely and positively shut down. This “league” has in the past been very successful and has produced some great players. Since the return from Covid it has been an absolute cesspool of volunteers and board members looking to capitalize on the lack of general knowledge from the parents on how its run.

The Board members of the MHL have repeatedly refused to acknowledge the existence of members with criminal records and backgrounds. They also have refused to acknowledge or take action on assault allegations that have happened in two separate organizations.
It’s disappointing to know that the MHL continues to not address the allegations, they’re more interested in covering up any and all of the facts.

I would steer clear of the MHL and the Applewood and LPC organizations. Your childs wellness will be in jeopardy. You’ve been warned.
