7 Oakville kids on the team, 10 Imports.

So where is the opportunity for kids below the past few years? If it were the old system (5 Imports Max) then 5 other oakville kids would have been given a chance. And that has a trickle down effect to the teams below AA, the way it is now whatever level your at your stuck there with no opportunity to move up. Imagine being in a job where the promotions always go to people outside of the organization.
Wait I’m confused. Isn’t getting cut and released to go anywhere you want to take your star player the dream??? 🤣 if they tried to keep your kid you’d be complaining too.

Now I’m confused, point out in that statement above where it talks about a release?

were they at a team event? tournament? or just a get together with friends? because news flash for you - teenage boys have been known to do stupid things. if it was not a team event and had nothing to do with the league then why would anyone need to miss ice time? if the police get involved and things progress further then maybe have the conversation. but for now sounds like you are just stirring shit up
So it’s true, and known about. And check the Oakville News, police are involved.
According to the article, a group took a car (that didn’t belong to them), crashed into a house/fence and fled the crash. Sounds like something every teenage boy does in their free time.
Wow and the 2 comments defending this and making excuses prove every point on here about OR but also the parents! SMH normal things teenage boys do.
The kids involved talking about it in the changeroom, just shows the parents didn’t make them accountable for anything. Just blame others for their “mistakes”.
Is anyone really surprised?

OK. Couple of things. Where does any of the above say this was "normal"? The post was that teenage boys have been known to do stupid things. If they took a car a crashed it that classifies as a stupid thing. Not a normal thing, a stupid thing. And they should be in trouble, no two ways about it.

And how does anyone know what was discussed in the changeroom? Were they there? Did they hear it? I doubt any adult was in the changeroom when and if these boys discussed it. Armchair parents need to cool it a bit. Who knows how any of the parents of these kids are handling it? Anyway, it's not my place to judge how people bring up their kids.

I would suggest that if it was discussed in the changeroom, it was mentioned by another player on the team to their parents after they heard it in the changeroom. Stupid thing is one thing, taking a car that doesnt belong to you, crashing said car into a house/fence, then taking off from the crash is beyond stupid. Common sense would tell 99% of teenage boys to NOT do that.

I would love to hear about the mythical oasis minor hockey org you're sending these kids to where there's no crazy parents, no coaches who are rough on kids, no exec board that is full of cronies with their own agendas. The teams in the G? LOL. There's not a more political group of people in the universe than the parents and execs of GTHL teams.

Every minor hockey org is gonna have problems like this. You can Not Allowed about it, or you can get involved on the admin side and try to make it better (and end up, no matter your best intentions) being accused of being corrupt because somewhere, some little Johnny is gonna get cut and Johnny Sr isn't ready to accept it.

Yes it is quite funny that the complainers always seem to not make the team because of "politics". Wouldn't have anything to do with the kid not being good enough now would it???
