They would have to from a new association, also KSL requires it to be paired with a hockey development center which basically no OMHA centers actually have.

So no, they associations are not leaving the OMHA.

Ice would be hard to get also. Associations come first generally.
Yup, probably, but KSL teams already do it. It CAN be done.
Put it this way, If it exists, then sure some OMHA centers will fold and that opens up ice time immediately.
Most associations have large Local League and girls hockey. There is no way associations will fold. Our association only has 6 rep teams. LL and Girls teams total 20. They could stay LL only and survive.
ahhh... BUT THEY WON'T.

Because there isn't a single member of that board that is sticking around to run an organization for its LL or House League. They are all there to weaponize their position on the board to better their childs standing in the org within REP. OR they don't have a kid, and they just like the power trip.

Well, with LL only they lost all their power, therefore their interest. They leave - association folds.

HOWEVER, what I think is most likely to happen is it starts U10 and maybe U11 first, and those specific teams fold for the different OMHA orgs. And each year KSL takes another bite or two. Until it owns it all.

the worst part of all of this, I am not even that big of a fan of KSL. I just hate OMHA THAT much, that I hope to god it fails...

Borders are open for next year. Confirmed
Yes from OHF they are open but OMHA has not opened them. There will be a notice for U10+ for coach selection and spring tryouts coming. They will then need to ratify it and add in U7-U9 in the summer AGM and finalizing the handbook for OMHA then.

This is the same process that was used for removing NRP's a couple years ago. They changed tryouts in a special notice then tried to ratify it in the summer. Note that the NRP changes failed in the summer and the changes ended up reversed.

buckle up, nothings gonna actually change.
How can it be open for OHF but not OMHA? Isn’t the OHF the “parent” federation to that sets the rules etc for the associations under them?
this^^^^^^^^^^

No way that is the truth. OHF holds the hammer. This wasn't a 9 month process to have everything stay the same.

The meeting is on the 30th. Anything on this thread is speculation and rumors. I'm sure there is truth to some of the posts, but until we see a formal memo, i wouldn't absorb much from here.

If anyone on here is attending the meeting, please give us a live time feed lol

OMHA absorbs all rules from OHF and then adds their own layer ontop of them. The same way OHF layers rules ontop of HC.

Hockey Canada doesn't ban players for playing in KSL, but OHF made an addition to the rule to ban players who do.

In terms of residency restricted programming, take a look at WOAA for an example of how the lower org can still restrict.
OMHA says LL is not restricted, WOAA takes that rule and appends further restrictions as they see fit.
https://woaa.on.ca/Public/Documents/202 ... Hockey.pdf

SEC. C - ELIGIBILITY
C-1. All representative team players are subject to the residential and eligibility requirements set
forth in the OMHA Manual of Operations (refer to P-6 for WOAA Local League player residential
and eligibility requirements).

P-6. The OMHA representative player Residence Rule (Regulation 3.0 Player Eligibility) shall also
apply for the determination of player eligibility for all WOAA Local/House League teams.

So you can play for any LL team in OMHA, but if you play within WOAA league you will have to follow their residency restrictions.

So no, OHF open borders does not mean OMHA open borders. HOWEVER it would mean Open between OMHA and GTHL/Alliance/Etc

Just saw an Instagram post about Upper Canada Black Aces being part of that new GMHL and they posted for Tryouts for 2016s in the next fall season 2025-26.

Seems pretty seamless to me.

That is just not true, there are many LL only centers in the OMHA and they do just fine.

OHF will make decision. All parties under them will adopt the change.

Agreed, if the “boss” tells you they are “recommending “ this new change , you should probably fall in line.

Meeting would have been today not on a Saturday when OHF does not work. Nothing of significance has happened.
