Shit the bed against WW and all anyone at the rink is talking about are the two TM coaches on their cell phones on the bench with 20 seconds left during yesterdays round robin game yelling at WM to get back on the ice so he could get another point. Told the kids in the changeroom they were trying to get him his 10th point. Great job RP! Cost your team the OHL Cup!
I don’t know anything about this but they lost this game because they couldn’t stop punching guys in the head, not because of some phones being out.

44 on Waterloo is my pick to be the highest drafted player from this class in the NHL draft in a few years. He was all over the ice and I think his game will translate well to the next level compared to a few of the other top prospects.
TPH coaches and parents thought it was the most classless thing they’ve ever seen. Thirty years ago as soon as that last puck was dropped they would’ve beaten WM to a pulp.
Sounds like you must’ve had a hall of fame career in the NHL. Thanks for your valuable insight.

There has only been one team from outside the GTHL to make the final in the past 10 years. So 20 teams in those final games and only 1 team was a non G team. Wow!

With help from the GTHL executive. Reversing a suspension that would have left VK best forward out of the semi final game……hmmmmmm, same kid who had two points. Also reversed a JRC suspension. Funny how those get reversed but heard the one from ptbo didn’t. Don’t get me wrong, VK were the better team and so was JRC but the optics look really bad.

This tournament (other than the kids) is a highly unorganized and poorly run/officiated end of year show. I challenge the OHL to let another organization or two run it for a while. Take it out of the hands of the corrupt GTHL.

The GTHL kids are just better and you just make jealous comments because you wish you were there
VK got outshot 33-14 and outplayed. They weren't the better team but snuck in the win. It's hockey and it's happens but don't call them them better. If you're on here, you should be a hockey person, smarten up.
Sorry, yes, my mistake for saying it that way. I’ll expand what I meant. PP did outshoot and yes and outplayed VK at times for sure and dominated the third. But physically, VK won the majority of wall battles. That clearly didn’t allow PP go get rolling. Also, a lot of PP shots were from distance and through no screen so I do feel the shot totals are a bit misleading. I step back though to the fact VK was allowed their best player back after a clear check from behind. Take him away as any other team would have had happen and it’s a different outcome. It looks really bad in the organizing committee.

Ya Waterloo also outshot JRC but I don’t they should’ve won the game. I think if this tournament reseeded like almost every other tournament out there Waterloo would’ve beat VK and it would’ve been JRC and Waterloo in the final. After a few days rest the Waterloo Brady Martin’s might have been able to put up a fight against JRC

I think the answer here is that most of these G teams are made up of kids from other leagues in combination with Toronto kids. Smaller community teams are locked into where they live so unless the OHF opens the borders up in the rural areas you will continue to see the same trend. Of VK and JRC how many are from Toronto? How many 7 year players does each org have? I don’t know I’m genuinely curious as that answer will really explore this discussion of the G dominating.

Bang on. I'm not sure how import rules in the GTHL have evolved over the last few yrs but its always been a case of "brain drain". It even goes beyond kids from Ontario - if a talented kid from the US is moving to Ontario to play hockey then their top pick is going to be the GTHL.

Isn’t that the answer? Top talent attracts top talent. That is why the G is always on top.

For sure. I think that the argument here though is that any given year another team can compete with the best of the best if they were allowed imports. I’m also curious above the answer to the above question of how many kids on JRC and VK are imports
