Upper York is forcing all of the kids who are playing AA somewhere else to come back.

There have been other mergers as well which has basically eliminated all the A centres in the GTA.
Too many GTHL players coming into the AAA loop. APR should be very worried about Toronto Red Wings players — and money guy — taking over. Dream of coming last once the $$$ win the spots.
Simple solutions; 1. One governing body OHF. Get rid of OMHA/Alliance/GTHL and whatever other OHF members are out there. 2. Create hard boundaries/regions for AAA/AA/A 3. LL/HL created by any one association that wants it. 3. Open movement across the board for AAA/AA/A at all levels.
OMHA is opening up. YO heard it here first. Next season all centers open, however grandfathering similar to the NRP. 1st U10 will be open then the following year U11 and then by U14 (4 years) no more borders in the omha. Its coming...They finally woke up, weak centers will die, others will amalgamate. its what they want.

If a center realigns from BB to A and your child plays in a AA/A Centre they can no longer try out for the team they have been apart of for years.

The kids that have been earning a NRP spot each year have to tryout and earn the spot and it is a maximum of 3 spots.

Those players deserve to kept trying out in that Centre. It has become home for them and they consider it their team. It should not be a lateral move is the point of the comment.

There is a reason those players are tryout in neighboring centers. Perhaps its because it is a healthier and better environment for the player as well as hockey development 🤷‍♀️

That's what is meant by a grandfather clause, not grandfathering players in for years at a time.

Also the comment about calling a person a whiner or telling a person to suck it up and or move is a bit brutal! 😕

I know 3 different families from 2 different centers it affects and it's not an easy situation for anyone! Everyone is entitled to a respectful opinion. 💙

What makes YOU so special? It's a lateral move, NRP's are 1 year contracts, your home centre is where you live! :D :D :D :D What's brutal is that you think you are above the rules. The disrespect to your community is brutal. Maybe you're the problem, maybe you're creating a problem where there is no problem. Question: So if your kid tries out and doesn't make the other team, then what? Maybe another NRP player makes it over your player. Are you suggesting that he/she has already made some other team before tryouts have begun? Sounds fair to other NRP tryout players. Just follow the rules. If you don't like them, move or quit. Healthier? you play minor hockey, it's a total unhealthy environment no matter where you play. Development?   you want to be developed you better be playing AAA and spending thousands in coaches. A players to become GREAT beer league players.

I am tired of you people telling me that my kid wont make it and will be a beer leaguer. He is top scorer on his U11A team, and the AA coach told him to come out to tryouts already. We are going to AAA just for the skate, because its good prep. My son works hard and goes to all kinds of dev clinics. We paid thousands in extra classes. He will be on the AAA team withing 2 years, everyone is telling me how good he is. Its important to be a realist.

Typical hockey mom response. Let me sadly burst your bubble - A player playing youth ice hockey has less than a 0.11% chance to play in the National Hockey League.

What does your statement have to do with the topic of realignment? Confused. Sounds like you're following the rules and the protocol of the way it's suppose to work.

The issue is your association in now at the level of what your kid has been trying out for. So your player can play A at their old BB now A centre. now other BB centre kids can have an opportunity to NRP to that team. Its time to go back to your centre since your not a resident of that other centre.

But why should a player who is thriving have to come back to a centre that is not as good and where that player doesn't want to be. Why can't there be a grandfather clause and allow players to stay where they have been playing for years!!!! :?: :?: Lets do whats right for the player and their mental health this is negatively affecting children!! Why should players be forced to come back where they don't want to be!!!!!

You sound pathetic.
"Why, oh why, does this have to happen to me"

I bet you were one of those kids in the playground that would say "fine, I'm going to take my ball and go home", whenever you didn't get your way.
