Would like to hear feedback about the local agencies and agents representing Ottawa players. How do they rank and who should I avoid? From what I heard the best (*****) to worst (*) are:
1. Octagon (Andy Scott) - NHLPA Agent *****
2. Edge (Randy Robitaille) - NHLPA Agent *****
3. Maloney & Thompson (Jonathan Ward) ****
4. Import Sports Management (Cory Dray) ***
5. Top Draft Sports Management (??) ***
6. Cosentino Sports Mgmt (David Cosentino) **
7. Octane (Wayne Smith) *
Ottawa Area Hockey Agents
Re: Ottawa Area Hockey Agents
I would stay away from Octane and Wayne Smith. Nothing good will come of that.
Re: Ottawa Area Hockey Agents
The top 3 in that list are all good. Like the other poster said, I have not heard anything good about Wayne Smith. He is good at swearing at the kids I heard, so that’s something!
Re: Ottawa Area Hockey Agents
Do you really need an agent until after the OHL draft? Can someone explain when and why is the right time to get an agent? Thx
Re: Ottawa Area Hockey Agents
If you and your player are willing to go to whoever drafts, you do not need an agent till after the draft. I would have someone (agent contact the team after the draft). Some agents can avoid your player from going to some locations. Agents also have teams they like to deal with. Some teams have agents they like to deal with. NEVER pay an advisor to work for you. Agents work for players with the hope they will become pro's and pay off then. If you pay first IMO that is a scam.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Jan 10, 2023 1:46 pm Do you really need an agent until after the OHL draft? Can someone explain when and why is the right time to get an agent? Re: Ottawa Area Hockey Agents
Not a fan of #5. do not know #4 or #6. #7 S/B a good. Wayne is a finder and in player development not an agent. He is a little to blunt for most parents and players but knows what a hockey player looks like and what it takes to get to where the player wants to go. He has a Stanley Cup as a head scout.Guest wrote: ↑Sat Jan 07, 2023 10:05 am Would like to hear feedback about the local agencies and agents representing Ottawa players. Re: Ottawa Area Hockey Agents
He was fired from Bruins. Bit of a lush. And by bit I mean a lot!
