Well I’m sorry but hope is not a strategy! The kid that hopes a scout puts him on the radar because he had one good tournament while that one scout was watching is just not sustainable. To what end? So you can brag to your beer league buddies years later? It can’t be for any financial remuneration because the scouts already know who’s good after having watched them for 100 games. What exactly is your point again?

The point was playing against your peers in the provinces biggest and most scouted tournaments. You know, the ones that HEO players can't go to.

The problem with "the scouts already know who’s good after having watched them for 100 games" is these same scouts also know who they don't need to watch. Maybe a different set of eyes will see a kid that has worked hard and developed slower, but the same ole scouts have already dismissed him 100 games ago.

Most of our kids will be in beer leagues, so not sure what your point is.

You don’t need to be scouted if you end game is the beer league

90% of 07s will end up in a beer league. That doesn't mean they should give up on their dreams at age 15.

Hasn't been an HEO team in the finals for at least five years. HEO teams went something like 4-35 against non-HEO teams this year.

It's tough for 15-16 yr olds to play against 16-17 yr olds, especially when the 15 yr olds have only been playing U18 for a month.

Why is not hard for other organizations? Do they not have 15-16 yr olds?

Their 15 yr olds play U16. Only 16-17 on their U18.

Our U18 is 15-16 with a max of 3 x 17 yr olds. Our teams must have a minimum of seven 15 yr olds per team over twelve teams, so we have some young kids that played U15AA last year now in a tournament that has some teams with a roster half-full of OHL drafted players (JRC for example). Our players do their best, but they're overmatched physically and talent-wise, especially in October.

And this is why our U18 program makes no sense.

No you are right but it's the system that is failing the kids it's a system setup by Jr A owners to help pay their bills that's been proven time and time again.
Ask yourself how many of the boys that are drafted in the bantam protection draft make it through to play Jr A in the CCHL? Less then 10% the elite kids either get drafted to the OHL or move away to school and the remaining kids are given promises that if they stick it out they can get a shot at the big club but it never happens. Look at Corwall after the main camp they kept 22 forwards into the season.....what happens to those extra boys? Empty promises made by that owner
