Guest wrote: Fri Oct 13, 2023 9:58 am Good luck to the teams participating. Hoping they have a great weekend. Big picture, at this point this is all just about playing hockey and enjoying the experience and maybe seeing some additional development. U18, Junior B or Junior A the goal should be about getting better. I'm sure there are some players that wish to play at a different "better" level but beware it's not always a better experience. I know of more than a few that went with the junior options, and now they sit, or worse are in bad situations, with bad team environments, and overall worse hockey and coaching.
This hits the nail on the head. I see too many kids rush into Junior first of all. Second, the secret sauce is the find the right coach and environment. I know way too many kids who are languishing on CCHl squads getting little ice time or not even dressing. After losing time with Covid, this is a total disaster for a kid trying to get to the next level. Same goes in NCDC etc... The shoe ultimately drops in November/December as rosters get trimmed at highest level leagues and kids get pushed down. Also, part of development is being able to make mistakes without the fear of being pushed into oblivion. I always advise kids to play where they can make mistakes and learn from them.
If HEO wants a good U18 league they have to somehow slow down the flow to Jr. The HEO area has too many Jr teams.
Players should play Jr if they are getting ice time but if you are watching the 18, 19 and 2o year-olds play. Those players should be in U18 were they get the extra ice time when availible.
There's some truth there, and the answer us that despite the fsukings if Jr. A and B, it's better than HEO run U18AAA. HEO needs tonlrivide a quality product that people actually want to be a part of. HEO is too full if itself to make that happen. All good, they have zero control over Jr. Hockey and people have left and will continue to leave.

The CCHL increased how many players could be on the rosters who are in their last year of Junior. Interestingly, almost all teams in the CCHl are younger than they were in a preceding year. It seems like the CCHl has scooped up its share of young (u18) more this year than at any other time. The other side of the coin, is did 20 year olds just choose to play somewhere else? Looking at height and weight charts, the CCHL is smaller size wise than 5 years ago.

Also checking NCAA stats. D3 hockey has become significantly younger in 2023-24. I can only assume it is "finally" the pushing out of the Covid old-timers.

So there's no charts. How did you do a comparison? Was there a site that did the average weight per team? Curious

These are all old outdated measurements.

How are the ages outdated measurements. Look up elite prospects or google average age by league etc.. Not too hard. Or go through the CCHl rosters, a lot less last year juniors(2003) than previous years.

HEO AAA team barely beat an HEO AA team. I'd say pretty bad look

You are being you. Never look at the whole picture
I could pick a team of all HEO Jr B players and beat most if not all CCHL teams. Does that mean the CCHL is shit no it does not.
