Which is being overseen by HEO no longer CCHL. Either way it will be open borders just an east west situation now. Unless they do a draft but doubt that. Then you can try out with any A team you want

Everyone that we have spoken to has said the kids already drafted that their rights are still retained. Also hearing that the existing 12 teams will be paired up to make 6 teams. The "free boarders" was for the proposal that did not include the CCHL, the final plan moving forward is 6 U18AAA CCHL teams.

Spoke to many peoe to, never heard that.

It was already overseen by HEO. though there is no enforcement. Will be interesting what we are told since no one wants to piss off the team that has your Jr rights. Will also be interesting what it will cost.. Hoping my kid doesn't have to play in this league next yr...lol no way they are going to re-draft the 2007 kids for CCHL although a skill based draft would be great vs the geographic Bantam draft from yrs past..

07's were already drafted. Top 06's were invited to tryout for Jr. Teams, most sent back, ie cut. Are they free agents?

Have to go back to the HEO AAA Reset Plan 2023-24 document for those details...should still be avail on HEO website. 06/07 players returning will be somehow "transitioned" to the new format...not sure what that will entail.

U18 AAA Cohort – Operators: 6 CCHL operators as selected by the HEO BOG
o 6 teams with East/West Split operated by CCHL with new HEO Board of Governors to
designate the team leads
o Reassessment of East/West player movement strategy after 1 year
o East Boundary = District B, District 12, District 9, District 3, District 2, District 1
(North Dundas; South Dundas; South Grenville)
o West Boundary = District 11, District 10, District 4, District 5, District 1 (Leeds,
Smith Falls, Kemptville)
o TEAM NAMES: TEAM NAMES TBD:
o NEW - Players located within the West Boundary can report to either team in the West
for tryouts – 1 year pilot of this player movement strategy

o NEW - Players located within the East Boundary can report to either team in the East for
tryouts – 1 year pilot of this player movement strategy

o NEW - No limit on third year players
o Roster size (17-18 total per team – request for dispensation to AAA BOG on case-bycase basis)
o NEW - U18 cohort plays against other U18 AAA teams – including HEO Schools with
Residence teams (ie: OHA)
o NEW - U18 AAA tryouts begin 4-5 days after U16 AAA and continue 4 days after U16
Free Agency/Combine
o Rational - Players released from U16 AAA can choose to tryout for U18 AAA –
NEW

o NEW - U16 & U18 games will be scheduled on shared game nights (ie: a U16 game and
U18 game with be scheduled back-to-back on shared night)
o NEW - Monitoring of adherence to HEO Affiliation Policy by AAA BOG – players
cannot be refused the opportunity to affiliate with a higher-level team unless the player’s
regular team has a game or practice.
o Mandatory Showcases (minimum of 2 Saturday showcases per season)
o The CCHL priority selection draft is to be revised to U16 from U15. If a drafted player is
not rostered to his Jr A team, the player returns to the draft for the following season.
<under review>

o All U16 players must try out for HEO U16AAA teams and be released before trying out
for U18AAA teams.

So...looks like for next year, rights are not "owned" by anybody...06/07 kids can try out for one of the three teams in the east or west, depending on where they live...08 kids try out for U16AAA and then can try out for one of the U18AAA teams...draft in 2 years will be from the U16 (2008) crop of kids for JrA and if not rostered, goes back in the pool for potential pick the following year...looks like to draft this year as the 06/07 kids will transition by trying out with one of the east or west teams...

There has been no information about who owns who's rights. The reset plan/proposal mentioned above does not mention cchl. The finalized plan was never presented to the parents/public. I hope that more information is provided soon. The reset proposal was 4 teams run by HEO, and there were rules about player movement, the finalized plan is 6 teams run by CCHL., living this right now... these 2 are completely unrelated.
