Maybe wait and see before you gift him?
Projected 1st or 2nd round. And to the clown that said you don’t need an agent you are dead wrong. My kids agent got another player the full school package plus an extra $85k is reimbursed costs for parent travel, hotels, meals etc. You think you can do that by yourself? Doubtful. He’s working on a USHL/College commit so he’s putting in the hours. Facilitated many zoom calls with GMs.

Must be an agent writing this. The $85k, if true, is because the team didn’t want the kid to go the NCAA route.

That’s rare. You need to be standout and if you are the teams will throw things at you. An agent isn’t going to get $85k for your kid sitting in the bubble.

The kid is elite then did not matter who the agent was for the 85k

I’m all for showing a little love to our agent who has given us great advice. I don’t need to be told. But this is clearly an agent asking this question as a reminder to all the cheap a$$es out there that a little love would be appreciated.

Not an agent. Dad only. And yes, I agree with what you said. No bubble players getting that offer. Good players are in the drivers seat and have negotiating power. But to suggest that you don’t need an agent pre OHL draft is just stupid unless your kid is going in the 4th or later rounds.

Can you explain to me what an agent will do for a 3rd round draft pick?

A real agent who's "not getting" immediate reimbursement, is getting "payment" as a percentage of a pro contract the player "may" sign in the future. If gift cards and throwing $500 their way is something you feel you need to do, you're not with an agent.

If an agent asks you to pay he is a scum bag. Lots of talk about OHL draft picks being bought and “agents/owners” pocketing the $. $25,000-30,000.
