There is no expectation for these kids to be fully baked. Cale Makar was 5β6β in his WHL draft. Not sure size tells you much at this age. Only about a third of those drafted will play a meaningful number of games in the league and more than half of those donβt play in their first year. These teams arenβt in a rush for first year players so they make bets on potential. A lot of picks likely donβt make sense because scouts arenβt looking at the same things parents are.
