Ding ding ding - makes sense why there is so much drama surrounding the board. All these little superstars are going to grow up with mommy complexes. Nothing a mom, on a board with a bunch of cash can’t fix.
The board has zero influence on the coaches.
Everything bad that has happened to your little superstar was done to him by his corrupt coach - not the board. The only thing the board is guilty of is being manipulated by an ego maniac to the point that they think picking him as the coach is a good idea.

Keep telling yourself the board has no influence on coaches . You are either completely living in a state of delusion or are on the emc board and want to try to cover it up. Everyone knows that the emc board is completely corrupt.

The board might be corrupt but JW picks the coaches - JW could care less what the board wants - just look at his picks.
Coaches do not care at all about the board - they only use the board as they see fit - just like JW.
It is your coach who is screwing with your kid - not the board.
We get it - You are looking for someone to blame cuz your kids not getting drafted- if he is good enough they will find him. Sounds like hes not.

Accountability. The board is accountable for the coaches. It is known some board members kids get picked for teams they shouldn't. Not all coaches will do that, but it definitely happens, and not all board members kids are on teams they shouldn’t be on. This is where accountability should come into play. Imagine everyone just did the right thing?

If the environment, and not just EMC but all boards, was a little more inviting you might be able to attract a board comprised of ALL non parents who would potentially provide a bit more balance.

Like non parent coaches with experience...everyone calls for them, praises them but once they make independent decisions they are jumped on.

Agreed
When a coach crosses the line he needs to be removed from the organization.

Emc has had very corrupt non parent board members.
Non parents do not guarantee any improvement or “balance”. There is little to no motivation for a non parent to be involved in minor hockey boards or even coaching younger teams.
Most parent volunteers are actually in it for the right reasons and in many instances will work harder for an org because they want it to be the best situation for their kids and the people in their community. The real problem are conniving, manipulative and selfish parents. They are guilty of everything they accuse the board of. They would NEVER do anything to benefit any kids but their own so they can’t understand why decent people would do it. Get involved and make a difference but be careful you might help someone youre not related to in the process..

Everyone is in it for their own selfish reasons.

Some want control
Some want recognition
Some want the challenge
Some do it to give back
Some want to build their coaching resume to move up to the next level
Some do it to create a spot for their kids

Anyone who says "I do not do it for myself" is a f liar

I agreed with you, until your backhanded comment at the end, which seemed unnecessary. There are good people involved at all levels but there are also bad people. Coaches decide their team culture. The minute they make one back door deal their credibility and team culture blows up. There is a lot that can be done to restore respect in the sport and create a healthy competitive environment, but it needs to start with the board, and the coaches.

What a stupid post! - obviously! You can say this about any aspect of your life! These are everyones reasons to do anything lol!
No one here is jesus. There is always a seed to start the process - its what you do when your there that matters. You can be self serving AND help people - thats how life works.
The problem is the corrupt coaches and pyscho parents refuse to help anyone else- they are not only not helping others they are actively tearing people down in hopes of elevating their superstars status or their coaching aspirations - this is whats wrong with minor hockey.
