Guest wrote: Sat Apr 20, 2024 11:19 pm Are any other teams asking families to show up for “tryouts” this week with a first instalment payment for next season? $2k is a lot of money with 3 days notice when most of us have expensive spring tournaments/other sports commitment costs too.
Best have the gthl answer that for you. Better yet, have a chat with hockey Canada.
Call them Monday when the offices open then post their response.

Registration should be in the fall.
There’s no reason for a 2k deposit on day 1 of tryouts in April!
Why stop at 2? Why not 3,4,5.
It would make sense to take a sensible deposit on sizing day.
The system is corrupt and broken.

How can families with multiple kids compete in competitive hockey?
Costs are out of control.
Organizations are Non profit? Ya ok lol

1-3k annually for equipment and sticks
7-15k winter budget
$ for spring summer
+ Travel
+ extras
You’re looking at 15-30+ per kid
...then make more money? you do not need top of the line equipment, or extras or spring hockey. these are things YOU choose. It is like me buying an Audi, getting the top trim and then looking for someone to email and cry about how expensive it is. you want the best? well nice things cost money, life is about sacrifices.

The dad is a beauty.
The kid is pretty chill and keeps to himself.
Nothing wrong with being mediocre at u13-15
Be Elite when it counts.
If you look at the top 3-5 players in the age group as of right now, none of them will be top players by u16. They are top players now because of early maturation, not hockey IQ. In some past age groups, you might see a special player all the way through. This is not the norm. The 2011’s don’t have a ‘special player’, atleast in the G. The top players in u16 will be the players who have been taught to play hockey properly and have strong IQ for the game. By U16, size, skating and skill are just a ticket to the dance.
Sure said the dad of the duster wishing that his kid had enough talent to keep his spot on any team. Your duster by U16 will be playing A which stands for a hole. Of which you are. There are plenty of talented 2011. Some are even getting attention from scouts and USA organizations already. You wouldn’t have a clue because your duster and your shitey crew will never have that privilege. They are 3 years away so now is the time for those ear marked to be contacted. Even if the contact is to say hi and introduce themselves. It those contacts have happened you moron. It must feel good to put down children who work hard to attain their goals and aspirations. You are a loser so you have a loser mentality. But players of value are already being contacted.
You are an idiot and unaware of that fact!
Definitely an idiot! Sounds like VK #11 dad, arrogant prickk and the kid is a bully.
Maybe so but the kid has been contacted already. Like it or not. You people in here are shear losers.

Honest post - ML is a loser
His kid has been marginal for far too long. Running on grandpa’s money. They are the example of what is wrong in hockey. Watch 4 Marlie games this year and have never seen anything from the kid in a game not a single point. Nothing. I’m n visible and he is out there all the time. Won’t be in hockey after next year. Book it.

I'm betting that the team that shows up to play defense defensive hockey will win. I smell an upset.
