You were never at the brick. It’s pathetic you put that much effort into slamming it because you’re sour your kid didn’t make it. Get a life.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2024 8:47 am I feel like i need to shed some light on this Brick situation. Having gone through this last year with my 2013 kid who played on a Toronto brick team let me give you some insights as to what you will see and come to realize.
The teams are not made up of the best players within their respective boundaries. Spots on both teams are bought for large sums of money or sponsorship. Aligning with a program 2-3 years before brick means nothing as well.
During the lead up to the final tournament (Edmonton) you kid will be practicing at a decent level but will not learn anything they already don't know. The coaches on both teams really don't want to be there as the $$ has already been spent and lined within their pockets. Parents will all hate each other behind their backs of course once they see their kids getting less ice from others. By tournament 3 resent starts to set it and coaching goes to shit as they start to see they are not going to win anything.
In Edmonton the atmosphere is really cool and positive for the kids. You see some great teams and meet some great people. Last year the good teams were built like hockey teams, not run and gun try to skate through everyone Toronto hockey style. The American and Montreal programs are miles ahead of Ontario for one reason (Greed). Lesson learned on my part, again cool experience for my kid but i would never do it again, spring hockey is not what you all think it is. Take some time off , go fishing, play other sports then mix in strong focused development.
Good Luck to both brick teams

Re: 2014 AAA
There are no studs left off the brick teams. Some marginal kids might make it due to $$$ but nobody who is clearly a top player ever gets passed over. Facts.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2024 12:36 pmThis is wrong. It is how it should be, however good kids get passed over because of money and relationships all the time.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2024 11:09 am If a kid is good they will make a team. No team will turn down a truly good player regardless of finances or relationships. And that's how it should be.
Re: 2014 AAA
That's what I've seen as well. The teams are made up of the best kids in that area and maybe a few beyond. I've seen financially loaded people cut. You can't buy a spot on most brick teams unless it's a bad team to begin with. No one is going to cut a good player for an average player with money. Most want to win this.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2024 8:05 pmThere are no studs left off the brick teams. Anyone saying these teams are about money and relationships is bitter. Are there good players that don't make the team? Of course, there are only so many spots. And not everyone gets equal ice time either.

Don’t agree with this. Happens all the time. It shouldn’t but it does.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2024 11:09 am If a kid is good they will make a team. No team will turn down a truly good player regardless of finances or relationships. And that's how it should be.

That's true. whatever Brick or AAA, nobody take an average player with sponsor instead of an elite player, everybody wants WIN.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2024 10:27 pmThat's what I've seen as well. OMHA is another case, relationship is first. money even not working.
if 2 average players, yes, money is working. if you thinking your kid was cut because another sponsor player, just double check is your kid enough good?
Re: 2014 AAA
There is maybe 1 money guy per team. Their kid is generally good enough, but there is a strong argument that there are better players. Everyone else is on the team because of merit. The guys who pick the teams have done this for years and know what a good player is. they do not have rose coloured glasses and over value the talent like the parents of the cry baby parents do.
Re: 2014 AAA
Actually it never happens. Ever. Any kid that’s a real stud and no brainer will be on the team. You can’t name one top 10 player in the league not on the team.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2024 10:50 pmDon’t agree with this. Happens all the time. Re: 2014 AAA
Yep. On our team there was one player who didn't make it that i was surprised by because he scores a good amount of goals...i pointed this out to others and they gave reasons why he didn't make it mostly that others were better. The Brick teams have specific needs...they treat the kids like products. Not all the products need to do the same things. And just because someone gets a lot of goals with average teams doesn't mean they will when they play the more competitive teams.Guest wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2024 9:18 amActually it never happens. Ever. Re: 2014 AAA
would this still be the same mindset if the guy with average player didnt have $$?Guest wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2024 9:17 am There is maybe 1 money guy per team. probably not; then people would say hes an OK/Avrg AAA player. but when you have a wealthy person with an average player then right away it's he has $$$ thats why hes playing.
