Lol... are u talking about the finals of the pre-brick tourney.... hahaha
There are only 80ish GTHL players in thr NHL right now out 1000+ players.... it means nothing.....
Correct me if I am wrong the GWG goal in the championship was scored by an Alliance player.... assisted by an Alliance player lol
The GTHL has more players in the nhl than any other league on earth. Look it up
Not a big fan of OMHA, but still.
It’s mostly because there’s no other city of Toronto size or bigger where hockey is popular. Like it or not, but it’s a very niche sport. Outside Canada only in Finland hockey is a number one sport. Population of Finland is more or less equal to Toronto-Vaughan-Mississagua-Markham. Roughly there are 700 Canadian languages players in NHL, 10% of whom played in GTHL at some point. Almost 20% of Canadas population live in GTA, that means that Toronto is underrepresented in NHL.
I’m sure that hockey in AB, BC and QC is no worse than in GTHL

Boom. Facts.
But also, who cares. None of your kids are going to the NHL. They definitely have a better chance of becoming a shitty internet troll.

There are also 12 teams in Toronto. Divide that by the population and it equals a lot of OMHA centres. The truth is the training and development is far superior here.

The variance in the OMHA is considerably higher most teams have 6-9 skilled higher level players (like a lower mid pack G team)
Those top G teams dont necessarily have higher end talent but just more depth and more talent across their lineups.
That would explain why nhl numbers are similar betwen GTHL and Omha … I bet a higher percentage of GTHL players play in the OHL vs OMHA

Just a theory
Better coaches. Some of the OMHA teams have coaches who have no idea what they’re doing

y
The best player who actually developed in the GTHL is Mitch Marner, currently being run out of the city he grew up in. McDavid developed in the OMHA, then took a free ride but averaged 2-3 points per game his first year in the G. I guess the OMHA got him there…
