Guest wrote: Tue Jul 09, 2024 8:03 pm If you think the brick has any influence on a kids chance of doing something in the game of hockey your delusional. It’s a tournament for 10 year olds, kids develop at different times. The elite players at 10 vs 18 are gonna be different. It’s a great experience for the kids and good hockey but if you think that your kid being in the brick means he has a higher chance at success then any other kid you’re out of your mind.
Not quite sure on that but i appreciate the sentiment. I think the allure of the brick is making the team. If you make a brick team chances are you’re good. There were some kids that stood out way more than others at the brick but the odds are you are talented at hockey if you made a brick team. Does it mean you’re going to the nhl? Of course not. No one has a crystal ball on what will happen with any of these kids but it seems ridiculous to think that the brick kids will all suck by age 18 and these new kids will show up out of no where and dominate.

Going to the brick does mean your kid is good at hockey at the moment. There’s no denying that. End of story.

Great experience, exposure and looks top notch on your instagram and Christmas card. Parents who have devoted this amount of time and money to their child’s athletics will continue to do so, so their children will continue to excel. Especially if they have fundamentals, IQ and access to the best coaching. Congratulations to the kids who played, time will tell where they end up. Best wishes!!!
Right anyone who was at the Brick will likely continue to work on hockey in the years to come. Hockey has changed. It requires so much these days to be good. Hard to start playing at age 11 and 12 and get to the same level that many of these brick kids are at. I dont see it happening these days.
The culture of hockey needs some work, but that’s just the way the world is these days. People prefer to be negative and talk about each other instead of showing support.
Trashing 9 year olds is sad.
High quality coaches and organizations - this all starts from the top and trickles down.

If you played Brick means your folks have the means to support your hobby. Therefore likely they can fund your quest. Hockey is becoming as snobby as fencing or equestrian
Have to be loaded or complete superstar

Brick charter no additional teams allowed. Doesn’t work like that.

I hope they do get a team. PH and BD only get the best players trying out because they have a Brick charter. They aren’t developing those kids. They bring talented kids, gouge every rich parent wearing goggles for two years and then lose in the playoffs at the Brick. If they can’t lose their charter then they rinse and repeat with no accountability…

They can’t lose their teams and a third one can’t be added in Ontario. No point arguing it.
