I've got a question: Is there a way to find out if your kids head coach is actually certified through hockey canada coaching?

You can reach out to your organization and they can confirm a coaches credentials, also every coach's/trainer's/manager's qualifications are printed on the official team roster. Easy to get away with being unqualified at younger age groups where they play half ice and no game sheets or tracking of any kind is really done.

That said, in 25 years I have only personally seen 1 instance where an organization listed a qualified head coach while someone else unqualified performed the role. They did become qualified after 2 years coaching young IP teams and are somewhere in the AA/AAA programming now.

If you have a concern with how someone is coaching you should chat with them or the organization sooner then later. If you don't speak up and get it on record nothing will ever change (it probably won't change anyway.. but action is better then no action).

Meh, people are happy that the redundant, archaic and ineffective leadership is out. May change happen, how much will happen, time will tell. At least now there's a chance. The old crew literally HURT the game.

YES - wow - look at all the changes. White males removed from all the Hockey Canada ads on TV..............because that's the reality of hockey in Canada.

What a joke.

How is it troubled?

I agree, just curious what you think.

I don't think k we can tell people what to do with their time, money and children. Someone, preferably an entire league will put together a product that is in the best interest of the child, provides value for your money and time, sets goals that are one term, make FUN #1.

You can all that and be competitive and a strong desire to win to.
Your ideal hockey is not my ideal hockey. Take what you get and be happy that you get anything done for you at all.
What's your vision of ideal hockey. Take what you get and be happy? Seems you want a situation where there's no choice, and complete control goes to a few people, with no accountability.
If you're not prepared to work for it and make the changes you deem necessary, why should anyone pander to your likes? If you are asking others to do it for you, you get what they give and should be happy that they are not lazy like you, otherwise there is nothing, which is why you should be happy with what others provide for you.

Your coach can't get on a Hockey Canada roster if they don't have the appropriate certifications through Hockey Canada. If you are in hockey outside Hockey Canada - toss a coin and hope for the best.

Please - explain this privilege you speak of? I just pointed out that there is a HUGE inequality in terms of how hockey is portrayed in hockey commercials versus how it is in REALITY. Is that equality, or is it virtue signalling?

HC is a joke, so out of touch with grass roots and all the BS going on it's sickening! Hockey in Canada is dying, the game is no longer ours, people have their heads up their ass if they think otherwise.

HC has been managed by greed, ignorance, and now fear! There should be people in jail for covering up the corruption, it's a back scratching and keep quiet culture. Congratulations if that was your goal, well done.

Congratulations to the "rogue" institution of the BCHL! More and more options are coming to hockey in Canada that come out from under this BS HC system.

Oh but don't forget to fill out our little HC survey again this year! Fk off, lol

Remember one thing. If HC is not there, who will protect the kids. HC's issue was not handling issues with transparency.

Who will pay insurance? Leagues that go rogue want to totally commoditize the players. They fear oversight. ask yourself why? You need to replace HC with something better. Or else, better deal with the devil you know than the one you don't.
