So many will be. Playing tourneys every weekend in spring and multiple days on ice.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Jun 06, 2023 9:50 amGuest wrote: ↑Tue Jun 06, 2023 6:07 am Anyone know if the French kid from HPL will ever get a break from the ice. Looked very bad at Draftday showcase… perhaps his crazy dad can let him breathe a bit and take some time away from the game. Like the twins not having a break is clearly hurting development.
Burnout here i come? One of the few things that is right in Sport Canada is the long term development model. Psychologically and physically give your kids a break from ANY sport you're trying to cram year round. It makes them love it more, gives them a break to heal, gives them experiences at something else, helps them set goals and most of all be a damn kid. What kid under 18 doesn't want to do other summer things rather than be at rink all summer. Have seen this in hockey, baseball, soccer, gymnastics. And it doesn't have to be a sport, let them ride their bike, play a game of pick up baseball, fish, go camping, hang on a beach. Whatever they want. Ya living your dream through ya kids dream living at a rink 12 months a year.

At the U15 level, wouldn't it be expected to be on the ice a lot? I understand for younger kids, but when you get close to the draft, most start to specialize in one sport. Nothing wrong imo.

There is a line and burn out is real.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Jun 06, 2023 11:36 am At the U15 level, wouldn't it be expected to be on the ice a lot? I understand for younger kids, but when you get close to the draft, most start to specialize in one sport. Nothing wrong imo.
Re: 2009 Alliance
Yes, there is a line, but I was assuming people would use common sense. A couple of times on the ice each week, off-ice shooting and stickhandling, and a strength and conditioning program are what I would consider acceptable. Anything more than that then yes, burnout becomes a potential problem.
Re: 2009 Alliance
Do you think the twins only play well when they play together? I wonder, could they sense the other struggling when not playing together?
Re: 2009 Alliance
Frenchy showed burnout at draftday. He isn’t allowed to stop. The twins have showed complete burnout for a while. It’s sad. It’s borderline child abuse.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Jun 06, 2023 12:10 pm Yes, there is a line, but I was assuming people would use common sense. More kids too. Watch the kid going from emc to HPL. Mom runs him off his feet constantly .Guest wrote: ↑Tue Jun 06, 2023 12:12 pmFrenchy showed burnout at draftday. He isn’t allowed to stop. Yup. Bragging on social media about how many hours he does a week. Mind blowing to all except her.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Jun 06, 2023 12:35 pmMore kids too. Watch the kid going from emc to HPL.
