The GTHL has more players in the nhl than any other league on earth. Look it up
Not a big fan of OMHA, but still.
It’s mostly because there’s no other city of Toronto size or bigger where hockey is popular. Like it or not, but it’s a very niche sport. Outside Canada only in Finland hockey is a number one sport. Population of Finland is more or less equal to Toronto-Vaughan-Mississagua-Markham. Roughly there are 700 Canadian languages players in NHL, 10% of whom played in GTHL at some point. Almost 20% of Canadas population live in GTA, that means that Toronto is underrepresented in NHL.
I’m sure that hockey in AB, BC and QC is no worse than in GTHL
