EE needs to reset. new coach, team, recruit. it is clear they are pretty good in other age groups.
There is truth to this. I know players who wanted to relocate to EE based on location but steered clear because of the gong show its become.
People blame the coaching, the management, etc. It should never get personal. The fact is, whatever has been done in 2.5 out of 3 years has not worked.
Fact, the team played well enough at U10A to finish 2nd behind an Undefeated MI squad, but got knocked out early in the playoffs. They had a very strong 1st half of the season but based on 2nd Half of Season/Playoff performance, they were a mid pack A team that jumped up to AA for U11. They were nowhere closed to being the best team at U10A.
U11 you can chalk up to learning curve, i guess. Team moved up to AA, regardless of whether it was warranted or not, and struggled. Thats part of the process, you could say. Difficult season should have led to an evaluation of whether the right decision was made to move up with the current roster. If the plan was to stay (which it was) then it should have been open season during skates and tryouts. Instead, couple of band aid solutions were implemented and the team ran it back for U12.
U12, still fresh in mind, was just as ugly. DMM got the memo and went down to A. EE should have done the same, yet here we are, The damage done to the 2012 squad appears irreparable, as no AA player wants to go there,
under the current structure. . As stated above, there are parents who would want to bring their kids here instead of travelling further to play, if they had confidence in the people running the team. They do not, and as such EE will trot out another roster fielded with Kids,
who are good kids, but clearly playing above the level they should be playing at. DMM will not dominate U13 at A but they will be competitive. That would have also been the case for the current EE roster had they dropped down. We aren't talking about a team who would win 80%+ of the games at A. However, they would have at least been competitive.
The Association needs to set aside any bias they have, and step in after the 2024/2025 season brutally ends, and either drop this team down to A or relieve the Coaching/Management of their duties and replace them. Failure to do so will deter any top level talent from wanting to join this team, and we will all be having this same conversation again this time next year.
Sounds like they need to do what the Knights did a year ago. I know we rip apart that head coach but the organization clearly stepped in and did the right thing in order to take steps to make them competitive again. The exact thing EE should have done. The Knights a year ago were worse than DMM & EE combined. Go look at the 2022/2023 scores and compare them to the 2023/2024 season. EE should do the same and it will benefit all the kids in the loop.
Agreed. It's not just
Coaching its putting the work in to field a competitive team. Its making difficult decisions, like cutting kids who are struggling. Cuts aren't easy, but you can be Human about it. You can explain to a parent that their child would be better suited improving their play at a lower level and putting in the work to make it back up.
