VK had to get a second goalie. Their #2 from last year wanted more ice time and got it on another team. If LG wins the competition on VK, he will keep the leading games, if DS can step up from his current level, he will get it. The bright part for both goalies is that new VK Ds are bigger and better (so far) then the sad story VK had last season, when one kid was always injured, another wanted to argue with every point coach made and two mentally quit in October and stopped playing in January.
So stop worring about DS - his dad did not need handouts from VK to move to Toronto or pay for Everest. Its clear he wants to develop his son and Toronto is the best option for him and if can get a spot playing for VK - good for him.
