We attended skates of different 2015 AAA teams including TRW, Sens, VK, TT and MM. All of these coaches and people behind them insisted that their teams were expected to be competitive, development will be great etc. We later decided to stay in 2016 age group and move with them mainly because I had no information about these coaches.
Are there any criteria to understand that the coach is talking bs and in reality he is a no name and his tin is garbage? And on the other hand how to understand that the coach is good and it's the right place?
Honestly, out of these coaches, probably only the guy from MM looked repulsive. Shifty eyes, a bit lacking self confidence, was running back and forth to see if everyone payed. Nothing special but you feel that he is just not the guy you want to hang out with. Don't want to write about telephone conversation with him afterward, but he sounded like a weird salesman. Though parents said that he was a nice person.
As for other teams, their coaches looked ok, nothing suspicious, especially Sens coach always smiling, took notes during skate, had accommodating manners, we barely agreed to join his team.
Now I read that all of them run poor team, that will lose a lot and won't develop the kids.
What would you suggest to look at when attending the skates? Someone said that it's bad that they had pylon exercises and scrimmage. What good coaches would do?
