Is the biggest secret in U18 AAA that the coaches pick the players for the all-star game?
"All star game" 1st criteria is was the player drafted. Then coaches favors.
The U18 All-star team was officially actually picked by non-coaches. I have a feeling many of these are
1) pre-selects for OHL Draft U18 (because many are mediocre but connected, want to be on a police hockey team etc, not on the black-list (yes there is one), friends of the “OHL scouts”
2) Connected parents, hockey school staff influence, coache$
For most it was their last big “game”.
Most will never play an OHL game and never know that if they didn’t crack the top 20 in U16 they should focus on buying a nice pick-up truck and large beer cooler for the beer-league so they can be the big-cheese in the parking lot like their dad was in the rink.
Reality sucks.
