My son had the most goals in the omha and still couldn’t crack AAA team , he didn’t make the team cause they said he needed to work on his back checking and defence I totally agreed with their assessment so yeah you can lead the team in scoring and still not make it to AAA
AA is filled with AAA level kids that just don't have the desire to compete at that level. AAA also has a number of kids that should not be there due to $$$$ or who their parents know.

I would rather play on a top AA team then a bottom AAA team

Hockey is so much more than scoring goals. Not to mention scoring a bunch of AA goals is completely different than scoring AAA goals, there’s no correlation. You have to be able to play in your own zone and dominate there too, just as much as you do offensively. Otherwise you can’t compete at the next level.

go to to top teams. Anaheim ducks have been terrible the same as the MM have been terrible. change who runs the orgs and find good coaches who run good programs. Build it and they will come.
Completely agree with this. If you want balance, don't do AAA hockey in Toronto.
Imagine the caliber of hockey in AAA if there were half the teams. Also imagine how many skill coaches would be in demand for those thinking they can make the jump. Would likely just lead to more shenanigans and envelopes stacked with cash for the AAA organizations and so on down the line. There’s no perfect fix as there are way to many rich parents ruining this game for the kids. Living their kids dream, just drop them off at the rink and trust the coaches.
Open the boarders across the province at U15 and let the chips fall. Stop holding the kids back that are ready to play with the better players just because you are worried about losing. Nobody kept score when they where U8. Also so need to break free from the overlord of Hockey Canada and OMHA/OHF. Paying fees to and orgs that 95% of you will never ever benefit from.
Hockey is all about the $. HC is a joke, member provincial partners are a joke, in Ontario alone you have Alliance, G, OMHA, NOHA..whatever... 4 political minor hockey associations who don't work together because they all want your $$. Creates BS and talent misalignment. Should have 1 governing minor hockey body in each province, open all the boarders, set strong development mindsets and hold minor hockey associations accountable.
This is a great idea - rumour has it hockey canada has a new board and apparently they need to clean up their image

Not happening... a lot of organizations would lose teams which would mean organizations would lose money which would mean 3rd party trainers and developers would lose money as well.... common denominator here is.... money.

Guest wrote: Mon Mar 04, 2024 3:29 pm My reasoning for thinking AAA level hockey is unbalanced may be the unpopular opinion. There are typically only 3 really good solid teams at all the age groups and the rest of the teams are just mid level players (bless their hearts, they try their best and are having fun usually) my son played for the NYR AAA and never won a game. This was a couple years ago. He ended up quitting the game because you know what..it isn’t fun to lose. They need to balance the teams. That’s my opinion.

GTHL Draft No super teams. Kids don't develop as much as you'd think on top teams. Smartest parents have their kids on ,500 teas 😉

Actually...you're a 'fantastic' idiot, and that is not 'fantastic advice'. So all you have to do is wait til they're 19 or 20, then they'll just take you?! Easy, no problem. P*iss off and take the other idiot with you! Do you think they give out scholarships like candy??
Lemme guess...you'll just have him play ohl instead then if you have to, lol?? Super-easy too lol. F**kin clueless
You sound angry. He is entitled to his opinion. No need to name call

And you sound like an idiot. It has nothing to do with an "opinion". I swear man, f**kin morons. P*ss off
Definitely anger issues. Not an opinion, actually a fact. D1 is off limits to anyone who plays Major Junior. So is D3 for that matter. US colleges rarely take anyone straight out of high school. So resort to some more name calling and insults. The top Tier 2 players get offers, but they usually want them to play USHL or stay in Tier 2 until they are a bit older. Play in the OHL if you want your kid to play and attend a Canadian University. Bottom line, you are not well informed and resort to name calling because people are calling you out on your BS. Hopefully your kid is smarter thank you are, but he will probably play 2 games in the OHL and brag about it to his beer league teammates after working a 10 hour shift at his dead end job.

Holy Christ...another guy who thinks it's easy to play ohl. What is wrong with people? "You're kid only played 2 games in the ohl...what a loser." Lol. Unbelievable. Dont even know what to say. You have zero-clue buddy, none, zilch. I GUARANTEE...your kid plays ZERO ohl games. And ZERO ncaa games lol
Context moron. Better to play Tier 2 and go for a scholarship than play 2 games in the OHL and kill your eligibility. Can you even read?

Thanks for the input, Tips. And that's not what you said. Jes*s, just leave this to the adults. Idiot

Actually, that is fantastic advice. We have a local Tier 2 Junior A team that had a few 19-20 year olds going to D1 Colleges in the US. I thought that they were too old but then learned that they want 20 year olds not 17 year olds because they are bigger/faster/stronget.

If you need to pay to play you don’t belong. My kid plays on a top team and not the top kid but top 5 and I do t pay and he gets lots of ice. Simple as that.

For the guy above that said his kid is a top scorer in aa. There is a big leap between aa and aaa so it means nothing. Yes you probably see kids that may appear worse but you are also watching these kids in environments where they are a fish out of water

A lot of guys play years in the AHL and can’t make the leap
Not expecting NHL .. however, want to put him on the right track for a Div 1 Scholarship in Hockey.

Honestly dude?! You're such a f*ckin loser. Do you know how hard it is to get a d1 scholarship?? Idiot. Get a clue. This isn't the 70's. You're probably the guy that says, "Either d1 or ohl, but the ohl's where the real money is at", as if they get paid. Just piss off idiot, leave this to the big boys
Here's a concept to consider... don't let your kid's name show up on a M JrA roster ... play Tier II Jr A while attending school.. let them play to the age limit.. then explore NCAA and get their Masters at the same time. NCAA D1 take stronger, more mature players all the time, but if your kid has their name on a M Jr game sheet even if they never play a single shift, they become ineligible for NCAA

Yeah cool, simple as that lol, he'll be 'stronger, more mature', no problem, simple!! Piss off too you idiot
You’ll also need to consider d1 may only offer a small scholarship eg 20% yr 1, 25 % yr2, 50% yr3 etc
There is x amount to spend over 25 players
