Y funnel business model put in 100 kids at the top and pro deals will come out. Its simple economics and business model! If a top agency has 500 Mil TO 1 bil US of clients at 4-5% 20-50 mil income that you will spend a portion of offering your services to young kids. Not to be condescending to the basher on here but its a part of hockey that 98% of parents will never come across at the ages of 13-16! Do your DD as a parent or poster on here is all i say. What a agency can offer you in terms of training, nutrition sports phycology ect as a parent would cost you $1000's
Are you stating that agencies will pay for player training?

Take Too many kids.
1-2 top names for 08 - upcoming draft.
They also took alot of others (could think of a G’s and D) and not sure what they are thinking.
Aside from 2 top kids working with them, surprised by how many 08's they took.
CONFUSED why they took certain G and D. smh

Guest wrote: Thu Feb 15, 2024 7:58 am I woudn't say they are obligated, but im sure its in their promises to keep your kid relevant. If they are interested they will be sure to keep in touch regularly.
Our son is with one of the agencies listed above:
We did not pay our agent
He calls our son / or texts him often - can't give an exact idea of how often because at times it's been more.....(before tournaments etc)
He does video review with him, gives him feedback
Has come out to games

It is 100% worthwhile to have an agent
Just wondering, could you talk to what they do for your son other than keep them motivated. Are they reaching out to teams, getting eyes on him?
Personally, been disappointed. No scholarships .. not even 50% rides.

Guest wrote: Sun Jan 28, 2024 4:11 pm New to this. What agencies are out there and what are they charging?
you should not be paying if your kid is spotted by a agent
watching games he/she will contact you either via the coach
or directly, this generally happens at u14 or maybe u13 if kid is a stud. Good agencies include but not in any particular order are Newport, Octagon, Caa, Wasserman, Quartexx
There are some more but make sure they are NHLPA
plenty floating around that are not.
Agree that you should NOT be paying and if they ask for money thats your cue to run. I will say that any company approaching a U13/U14 player has zero to offer a player/parent at that age other than maybe some stick discounts lol. The benefit of an advisor/agent at 14 is a waste except to build up a group of talent for future potential, but at that point your mixed into a group and dont get the attention you were promised at a young age.
Is the agent obligated to provide a biweekly report back to the player/parent?
