You get what you pay for
More money should be spent on development not hotel rooms/ meals/ gas …these kids at this age should have part time jobs after school . This would teach them about life …all these tournaments at this age is ridiculous . No scouts watching this year , very few ! Looking at goalies only at U18 draft
Look how many teams are signing U 18 picks this season

Kingston
Barrie
Ottawa
Peterborough

Nothing wrong with pursuing your dream.

Missing the point money should be spent having the players on the ice , best coaching is in the G if you are willing to drive !
Right on…. Best place to develop. And fees are about the same as everyone else. $6000 to be 8,000.
More scouts watching games as they are all in one arena . They can watch multiple games on same day …not driving to Kingston then to Barrie !!!

U18 and scouts shouldn't appear in one sentence.

Thoughts on U18 aaa vs U18 prep route?
Prep is good if you’re school focused. Be prepared only the top 1/4 of schools have good programs and those top programs are 50-60k a year.

U 18 won’t exist in 2-3 years or will be a shell of itself. Between prep popularity and the new OHL/GOJ affiliation

In your opinion, what makes the G coaches better?

Showing up when game starts or wearing hats on bench?

Coaches in G making 60-80k and the top 3 teams in ETA would be top 3 in G

Ya right…. the ETA sucks and zero development in those top centers that you are referring to.

Same ETA centre was semi finalist the last two years at OHL cup. I’d say it was ok development.

Don’t forget that an SCTA team won the 2009 age group…..just saying. I’d say the top teams in OMHA can hang just fine with the top GTHL teams. Now that will change now that boarders are closed and G plays by its own rules of poaching the best players to just a few teams.

If we all played by the same boarders or no boarders rules, the top teams would be equal in both leagues.

I know that comment is gonna make some butts hurt in the G but the last two years of top teams G to O are very equal.

Can I assume you are talking about Peterborough ?
2008 team had half the players on the team from different organizations - when open borders hit they recruited instead of developing.
2007 team could have been called the Ottawa Petes for much the same reason as above.

I won't boast about development in Peterborough. Pretty sure that was their run and now done.

Barrie and Peterborough didn’t compete at OHL cup they lost easily to G teams

In finals against a G team and Oakville not really a OMHA team …
