Were better players replaced for select? It’s actually sad to see what happened to the Rangers. A few seasons ago they were one of the strongest. Crazy what coaching changes can do to a team.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Oct 01, 2024 11:30 amAgree with that, early bird tournaments often don't predict who will be strong throughout the season but as one said who has been already skating.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Oct 01, 2024 11:22 amYes would make for a better season competitively. Games like 8-0 are not fun for any team.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Oct 01, 2024 11:21 amI agree with this. Especially since some teams do not practice at all in the summer. Some teams practice a lot. I think that’s why there is such a large gap in preseason. Hopefully this large gap will narrow throughout the season.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Oct 01, 2024 7:38 am Scores can be deceiving and don’t always tell the full story, especially when playing the Eagles, but how were the Rangers?
BUT...I will say the changes I know happened on VR, and I'm going to add the Attack in here as well. We are in for a very unbalanced season. VP, VR and Attack are very weak teams that will struggle immensely against the rest of the division. It's a bit of a mess.
2010 A West

Re: 2010 A West
These teams are made up of many select players, and weaker existing players. Rangers lost their best players, including goalie and a dad...somehow to AA LOL. They were already a weak team last year so one can only imagine what is coming. They replaced many from a decent select team, I think that makes them not much better than VP. It'll be a long season.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Oct 01, 2024 1:31 pmWere better players replaced for select? It’s actually sad to see what happened to the Rangers. Attack is totally new, replaced by the George Bell Titans from MHL A last season. Told even they aren't that entire team, lost their best 3-4 players, thankfully held on to a strong goalie they had. Attack were a good team last year, now you probably are replacing them with a team equivalent to the Rangers of last year, likely not even that good.
VP...well VP is VP. They at least have a chance to win this year.

Unfortunately the likely not even that good part might be true.
Other game was HVS 11-0 over VR. It's going to be ugly at the bottom this year.

Yikes. What a bad division. Competition is very slim. No teams. The Gthl needs to do something about this.Guest wrote: ↑Wed Oct 02, 2024 8:02 am"Attack were a good team last year, now you probably are replacing them with a team equivalent to the Rangers of last year, likely not even that good."Guest wrote: ↑Wed Oct 02, 2024 12:18 amWell VP beat attack tonightGuest wrote: ↑Tue Oct 01, 2024 10:44 pmGuest wrote: ↑Tue Oct 01, 2024 1:41 pmThese teams are made up of many select players, and weaker existing players. Solution:
- Body checking needs to come back to A
- Cut down on the number of AA teams. Bottom 3 at least should play in GTHL West A, they wouldn't even be top of the division
- Also look at merging with MHL A for all age groups immediately.
- Kill the NYHL, at least tier 1. Make a GTHL B division that is no checking.

Panthers may be the best of the bottom 3 and will win a lot of games this year as a result.
