Nailed it. Kid cut, parent complained about bday skate. This was a bit of an unusual situation though. Kid cut was the managers son who technically "owned" the team and hired the coach. Coach cut the kid, didn't tell the manager, manager ratted him out.

Same thing at SIR. Coach is suspended for 10 games. The best part was that it was their own goalie coach that ratted on the coach and organization.

The G is to blame here, every team does this, there is no team that waits until tryouts to put a team together. Unfortunately, all it takes is one sour individual to cause a ton of headaches for coaches. No wonder teams have a hard time getting people to coach.

The usual source of any trouble is a douchebag parent. FACTS. All teams tamper, so some asshat parent must be behaving badly. Whomever it is should likely be shunned by any other teams.
This is absolutely accurate. Every team does this. Word gets around the G, and Fast. Parents need to move on as its usually the right call to cut the player. Its just prep for beer league. Gutless move to complain to the GTHL.

AND bet $100 that both kids that got cut from TA and SIR got a spot on this years teams by way of a birthday skate.

Crazy. What proof did they have in order to suspend him? You're right EVERYONE does it and the G is well aware of it.

Agree the league needs to figure this out aadnd just the tryout periods. BUT...If what I read is true I'd add treat people better and be open and your likely avoid these issues.

Parent coaches can be the best kind, especially at the A level. if you get the right one they will care about the team at a level that no paid coach can. But, there is good and bad. If you are laughing at the thought of a parent coach then you really know nothing about hockey. Whether the coach is paid or a parent or both gives zero indication on whether they are good or bad. Some of the absolute worst coaches I have experienced have been paid "pros" who can run some good drills but suck at all the rest. These types are better at being hired trainers than running a team. This doesn't mean I don't want the technical
ability but to judge someone based on limited info like "parent coach" or "paid coach" is the height of ignorance.
