2009 GTHL AA West
Re: 2009 GTHL AA West
Lets see how the Losers from the Vaughan SS fair this weekend. Hopefully they are not all double Losers. They could always enter a third SS Regional I guess.
Re: 2009 GTHL AA West
Man I wish my kid played on the VP! The parents are so dedicated that some even go unemployed to support the team! It would be a once in a lifetime experience for my kid to play on that Hockey club.

It’s another tournament with different teams. Just like any other tournament. Did your team only enter one tournament this season and then only play league games when they lost?
Just because it’s under the Silver Stick brand your all fixated on it
Re: 2009 GTHL AA West
Rangers have an easy group and should advance Ted R is strongest team in it is it true Rangers changing goalies again? MM AAA desperately looking for goalie I’m told - big budget sponsorship teams can enter lots of tournaments great for the players - MR beats VP I think when they meet VP dropped out of MHR with a tie game more to come !Guest wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2024 10:53 amWhy do you care?Guest wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2024 8:01 am Lets see how the Losers from the Vaughan SS fair this weekend. If you are not good enough to get to the SS finals on your first try at winning a regional, you shouldn't be there at all. Looking forward to Sunday to see who come out of this one.Guest wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2024 10:53 amWhy do you care?Guest wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2024 8:01 am Lets see how the Losers from the Vaughan SS fair this weekend. I think you're missing the point. I'm not gonna speak for OP, but SS is a specific type of tournament. You are only supposed to be able to play in one regional qualifier, and you have to win that qualifier to advance to the SS championship. 3 teams that lost in the Vaughan Regional qualifier all scrambled and got permission to enter a 2nd SS regional qualifier. If you already lost your regional qualifier, why are you getting a 2nd chance in another regional qualifier? And to all the teams already in that qualifier, they've now got 3 additional teams to beat out. Should every team just be allowed to keep playing qualifier after qualifier until they make it lol. I think this is the point OP is making and it seems valid to me.Guest wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2024 12:30 pmAgain. You and OP seem really invested so I guess this must somehow impact your team(s).Guest wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2024 1:36 pmI think you're missing the point. Anyways. I’ll bite. Here’s my two cents.
While you seem somewhat knowledgeable about SS I encourage you (and OP) to take a look at the rules since you seem to have concerns about teams participating this weekend.
Teams are expected to enter their local regional qualifier or get a release to enter an out of region qualifier. You might be interested to know that some teams registered for the Vaughan SS and bailed once other teams were added.
SS rules state teams can enter a second regional if they don’t advance after playing their own regional qualifier. So no one is breaking any rules by entering a second qualifier.
I can’t speak for SS organizers but it’s certainly possible that the reason they allowed this is because the Vaughan qualifier is a PRESEASON tournament.
A couple of teams playing SS this weekend were semi finalists in Vaughan. Maybe that’s a factor too.
Maybe it’s to encourage more competition.
Maybe it’s just a money grab.
I don’t really know why it’s allowed but it is. And some teams jumped on that opportunity.

Looks like there are a bunch of SS tourneys this weekend. Should be exciting to see all the qualifiers. Good luck to all teams involved !
Re: 2009 GTHL AA West
Fun fact. There’s a wild card spot at SS finals for a team that didn’t win their regional qualifier. Ask MB about it.Guest wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2024 11:29 amIf you are not good enough to get to the SS finals on your first try at winning a regional, you shouldn't be there at all.
