Agreed. And this is why I think its possible (Albeit, unlikely) that KSL takes a portion of the U10 space in the OMHA boundaries.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 2:55 pm OMHA AAA needs to use the KSL model of how games are organized once a month and then have exhibition games for teams in close proximity. KSL success is not just in full ice but the overall framework.

I live in the beaches - can my kid play for any GTHL team?Guest wrote: ↑Mon Sep 02, 2024 11:06 pmThis is very incorrect. Only applies to the Lake Ontario Region kids (Oakville, etc). If you leave in a regular center like YSE, Ajax, etc you would need a release from every center around you or move to an address in the GGuest wrote: ↑Mon Sep 02, 2024 10:34 pm
Above poster is confused. no OMHA kid can play in the GTHL without a release unless changing addresses until u13 ( maybe u14) then each team gets 4 imports and those 4 players do not need a release

The DW and VR coaches have built strong programs and the kids have developed and will continue to develop. They will find ways to play competitive games and both will be foundations for top tier AAA teams next year. Don’t hate them because they chose not to go to the KSL. Instead respect that there are other viable options. VR in particular is a core of kids and parents that have been together for several years and have stayed loyal to each other and developed as a team. These are not naive parents who are getting their egos stroked.Guest wrote: ↑Mon Jul 29, 2024 10:12 amno but the post above you is right, there are so many parents how have been sold a bill of goods by their coach and have instilled some sort of fear that if they leave they wont play AAA or it will be bad for their development. These are naive parents who have their egos stroked by these "salesmen". I can think of two right of the bat the HC of the VR Red 2016 Tier 1 and the coach of the Duffield White Tier 1. That guy is a Realtor so you can imagine the shit coming from that guy. He has been using the Nats AAA for 3 years now and they aren't even that good of an organization. That has the makings of a disaster. Tell me where did you play to give parents the comfort knowing you know what you are talking about? I cant wait to see the score when they Play Vaughan White and East York 8 times a yearGuest wrote: ↑Sat Jul 27, 2024 2:42 pm
lol, actually a former KSL parent whose kid is playing U10 AAA. It was tongue in cheek buddy. Embarrassing that Oakville and Markham have to threaten kids to stay in MD. Says a lot about how much better it is in KSL.
Hopefully the coach looks for tournaments and random exhibition games to push the kids if they are that much better than who they will play against.
My one question would be, why didn't that coach and parents take the kids out of the program and not just start their own team? Rent ice, do development, and play games against better competition for likely WAY less money and no requirement to answer to the larger org rules.
Let me give you the facts, KSL / NYHL are both good it all depends on who's running the ship. the DW group will be the leaders going into u10AAA , they play close to 50 games a year and have recruited very well. The VR team has a terrible leader which will hurt them come AAA but those kids will all land somewhere.
The kids going KSL will have a small advantage for the first 3 months but it will all even out. They are U9's relax lol
NYHL has lost the vast majority of their good players, including full blown teams. This isn't a opinion, its a fact.
therefore, if they only play the teams that are on their schedule, they will have each other to play against, and then destroy everyone else.
I don't know the coaches enough to agree or disagree on your assessment, but if the kids are willing to stick around despite lots of other options there is only two reasons:
1. They believe in the coach / program
2. they are being bullied / coerced to stay
Finally, if the kids in KSL have the advantage for 3 months (half a season) and you don't think that's much of an advantage - that's fine. However, its just your opinion, just like its their opinion that it will make a decent enough difference to change their decision on where to play.
If your kid is incredible, it doesn't matter where they play, they will make any team they want.
If your kid is more likely that next group of kids - the ones who are good but not the best player on the ice when they are on the ice, they will benefit the most from additional reps at full ice and a development pathway that has likely included Full-ice for at least one full season already.
I don’t get just because it’s full ice it’s way better development. Half ice gets the kids more touches with the puck, more battling along the boards, quicker passes or shots. It’s why when you watch a NHL or Jr practice they play 3 on 3 in side the bluelines or 2 on 2 down low. They do small ice stuff because it’s not just couple good skaters going end to end in a game. Your kid touches the puck once in the game how is that better development because he is skating full ice trying to keep up with the play
Re: Klevr
Right so we should copy the NHL and do half ice/small games in practice, but full ice for games. Amazing what a concept!Guest wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2024 9:43 pmGuest wrote: ↑Mon Jul 29, 2024 1:46 pmWhat are you even going on about?Guest wrote: ↑Mon Jul 29, 2024 1:34 pmClearly none of you people know much about youth hockey and this is why you come here to look like you do by hiding behind "Guest"Guest wrote: ↑Mon Jul 29, 2024 1:27 pmI think its a good thing. seems like the coach is a good fit for him then.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2024 10:24 pm Stay way from the 2017 northern saint goalie dad on L.A. team. The guy is a total nut job and needs serious mental help. He is going to do a disservice to his child in the future
