AAA hockey an unbalanced joke

Post by Guest »

Seeing some of the scores across the different divisions and leagues. How can it be fun and competitive with the super teams cleaning up and blowing teams out. AAA has become such a joke now. Tampering is at an all time high. The leagues do nothing to combat the problem.

You're just picking up on this occurrence?

They should reduce it by half and make a more competitive AA feeder system where players can truly develop and not chase the puck for 7 months.

Agree 100% too bad it won’t happen because of money and parental involvement.

no one cares about your feelings... get better and get on the good teams. The biggest issue is that good coaches only
go to to top teams. Anaheim ducks have been terrible the same as the MM have been terrible. change who runs the orgs and find good coaches who run good programs. Build it and they will come.

Completely agree with this. If you want balance, don't do AAA hockey in Toronto.

Imagine the caliber of hockey in AAA if there were half the teams. Also imagine how many skill coaches would be in demand for those thinking they can make the jump. Would likely just lead to more shenanigans and envelopes stacked with cash for the AAA organizations and so on down the line. There’s no perfect fix as there are way to many rich parents ruining this game for the kids. Living their kids dream, just drop them off at the rink and trust the coaches.

Open the boarders across the province at U15 and let the chips fall. Stop holding the kids back that are ready to play with the better players just because you are worried about losing. Nobody kept score when they where U8. Also so need to break free from the overlord of Hockey Canada and OMHA/OHF. Paying fees to and orgs that 95% of you will never ever benefit from.

Hockey is all about the $. HC is a joke, member provincial partners are a joke, in Ontario alone you have Alliance, G, OMHA, NOHA..whatever... 4 political minor hockey associations who don't work together because they all want your $$. Creates BS and talent misalignment. Should have 1 governing minor hockey body in each province, open all the boarders, set strong development mindsets and hold minor hockey associations accountable.

I think one of the biggest issues is the fact that most people cant handle losing and that is their gage on how good a team is. If most would just stay put on their original teams and allow the coaches to develop your kid instead of needing a dam trophy the leque would be much better

to many softies out there that need their little jhonny to be part of a winning team even if he is sitting on the bench

Can you provide examples?

I mean just looking at it quickly...

U10 7/12 Teams have winning records. The 8th team is at least in Double Digits. Top 3 are TM, VK. TYR

U11 6/12 Teams have winning records, with an additional 2 in double digit wins. Top 3 are TM, JRC, TYR. Couple of repeat teams but another competitive division as far as top 8 go.

U12 7/12 Teams have winning records. The 8th team is at least in Double Digits. Top 3 are NYR, JRC, TM. So far only TM have been top 3 in the first 3 age groups.

I'll skip over the next 3 age groups but you start to see new teams cracking the top 3 and top 5. Pretty much across the board you have 8 team with, or to close, winning records, with another 4 who struggle. Where is the stacking? TM is a storied franchise, but they have a couple of age levels with teams not in the top 3. Titans are up and down across age levels, Don MIlls the same, JRC the same...

Are there too many teams? Perhaps, but whats the alternative? Majors and Rangers near the bottom at u10 and u11. Those are established orgs. The only thing I would do if it were up to me would be to dump the Thunder Bay experiment.
